It turned out that all Meng Yao had to do to turn his fortunes in life around was find a beautiful man in a ditch, save his life by wagering his own cultivation, and allow everyone to assume they were legitimately married. (or: Meng Yao vs every single marriage-related trope: FIGHT.)

I absolutely adore fics about xiyao on the run during the war, and the fake marriage+pining tropes are SO much fun, so you know I loved reading this one as it came out. it's got cool cultivation techniques! snuggling for purely medical reasons, honest! NMJ awkwardly admitting that if MY hadn't left Qinghe, he might just have proposed marriage, woops! and poor Wen Qing has to watch all this gay nonsense go down 😔

Hello, the unhinged pterodactyl screech I made when I saw this! It so perfectly encapsulates Wen Qing's POV of all this nonsense. I've always loved @littlesmartart's way with facial expressions, and especially here, as Xiyao are having their dramatic moment and forgetting that they're doing this in front of someone else's proverbial salad. ALSO! The detail of the matching wooden guans is perfect. Everything about this is a delight, and I'm so thrilled to see it!

considering their individual personalities, a drunk-married-in-vegas xiyao fic shouldn't work... but somehow, somehow, this one really does! it's another dose of goofy fluff with some genuinely sweet emotional bits thrown in. really recommend if you want some fun silliness and a sweet smutty ending!
