Darcy fumbled with the edge of the blanket she still held, her fingertips running along the soft material as she waited for him to get ready, her gaze focused on Connor while she watched him step back into his dorm and return within moments seemingly ready to go. The lack of sleep was starting to have its effect on her and she noticed her eyes beginning to become heavier as the time passed, making her desire to get on their way stronger. The sound of the door locking broke Darcy from her sleepy trance and she looked up at the boy in front of her, beaming at him through tired eyes. A small laugh bubbled up through her core as she listened to his question about his appearance. “Connor, it’s like, super late. It’s totally okay if you look kind of sloppy, which you definitely don’t,” she said, stepping away from his dorm and motioning for him to follow. “C’mon, let’s go before it gets too late.”
The girl’s original excitement returned once she started on her way towards her destination. She looked towards him, a warm expression on her face as she pondered whether to tell him where they were going or not. “So I kind of lied,” she started, deciding the location she was taking him to wasn’t thrilling enough to be kept secret, “which I’m sorry about because you literally just told me you trusted me. But I don’t think you’ll actually be able to sleep on the way to where we’re going, unless you’re like a master in the art of sleep walking or something. It was only a ploy to make you hang out with me in the middle of the night.” Darcy glanced over at him —a small giggle escaping her lips— and attempted to gage his reaction to what she was saying before continuing. “Anyway, since it’s not really all that exciting, I might as well tell you what my late night adventure is. It’s supposed to be pretty clear out tonight, so I thought maybe you’d like to stargaze with me. It’s kind of dumb I guess, but I don’t know… it could be fun. There’s this nice spot on the soccer field we can go to too.” She realized she was rambling; something that always seemed to happen whenever she was in his company. It seemed sharing her every thought was the only way she knew how to combat the ever present butterflies that still fluttered in her stomach whenever she looked at him, even after all the time they’d been together. And though she always managed to sound like a babbling idiot when she was with him, she’d always take sounding like more of a fool than she already was every day to have a life with him in it than living in a world where Connor Athens didn’t exist. “Sorry, I’m talking a lot,” she said, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear as she felt the heat rush to her cheeks. Shrugging, she turned her body slightly so she could see him better. “So, hi.”
Connor pretended to be shocked, his right hand covering his chest in mock offense. "You lied to me? How could you do such a thing? You're not the girl I thought you were, Darcy Sharman--if that's even your real name." He began to laugh, unable to keep his act up. The boy couldn't be upset with her for more than five minutes at the most, even if it was a staged anger. As the two made their way outside of the building and started to head toward the unknown surprise, he grabbed her hand, which he could feel softly brushing up against his own, and loosely filled the gaps between her fingers with his own. Darcy rambled a lot, but he didn't mind listening. He found it endearing she could go on about a topic for what seemed like forever, especially when it was a subject she was passionate about. Conversations held between them had never failed to entertain him nor had they ever resorted to an awkward exchange of small talk. An unpreventable, childlike ear-to-ear grin was brought to his face once she mentioned they were on their way to stargaze together. Darcy waking him up in the middle of the night without any warning had all made sense now. Why hadn't he thought of this first? The fact he was still exhausted from the day before or the fact that it felt like twenty pound dumbbells were weighing down his eyelids didn't matter anymore. He was far too excited to care about losing hours of sleep, he instead felt wide awake and ready to relax under the stars for a long while.
"That's not dumb at all, I actually think it's a pretty great idea," he assured. He noticed a majority of the things she had given him or the romantic gestures she had planned almost always came with a comment about how stupid she thought it was. He hated she couldn't be one hundred percent confident. Everything she had done for him thus far had been perfect, and Connor wished she could one day realize that. She had never been a disappointment in his eyes. "You know, I've never done this with anyone else, so you get to be the first. I'm sure it will be nice to sit in the middle of the field and feel like you and I are the only two people in San Diego. Maybe we'll spot some famous constellation while we're out, yeah? I'm not positive I've ever done that, either." Nudging her shoulder with his, he gave her a small smile to attempt to ease her nerves some. "No, no, I like it when you go on about something. Don't apologize for speaking, it's cute." The way she blushed and pushed her hair behind her ear was cute, too. He knew it was a nervous habit of hers, or at least he had observed she often did both of those things whenever she, in his opinion, seemed anxious. He glanced down to make eye contact. "So, hello."

As soon as Darcy heard the doorknob turn and Connor’s frame entered her vision, the girl couldn’t help but let out a small squeal of excitement, happy that he was awake as well. Closing the space between them, she quickly wrapped her arms around his waist and gave him a gentle squeeze. Pulling away slightly so that she was able to see his face, she smiled back at him as her heart beat wildly underneath her ribcage like it always did whenever he was around. “Hi,” she said; her voice soft. Her grin broadened as she listened to him ramble on, a small giggle escaping her lips. “I hope I didn’t wake you up,” she added, getting a little upset about letting herself disturb his sleep. “I just couldn’t sleep and wanted to bug you.”
She considered his offer to go inside before ultimately deciding against it and declining as politely as possible. Her excitement was starting to take over her ability to respond to what he was saying as what she wanted to do finally fell into place in her mind. “I know it’s like super late,” she started, trailing off as she stepped away from him. “But I’m gonna have to ask you to trust me on something, okay? I promise it’ll be fun, or at least I think it will be. Besides you can always sleep on the way there if you’re tired.” Her surprise wasn’t really one at all, but she figured if he told him what she wanted to do he’d much rather stay in and catch up on the rest she’d taken away from him. Glancing at him to study his facial expression and see if he was at all interested in what she was putting on the table, she raised an eyebrow and gave him a sly smile. “So, what do you think, Athens? You into doing some late night adventuring?”
Pressing his lips to her forehead during the abrupt embrace, he placed a lingering kiss to the skin and laughed as she pulled back. "Don't feel like you have to apologize, Darcy. You know the door's open for you whenever--even at such an hour," he assured the petite girl. The last thing he wanted was for her to feel lousy for waking him up. He knew she wouldn't have come over without a reason; it wasn't often she came over unannounced in the middle of the night. Even if this time around she just so happened to show up to bother him, Connor didn't think he would mind. He'd lose hours of sleep if it meant the girl in his dreams could physically be there with him.
It didn't take a genius to put two and two together to figure out Darcy was in a feverish mood. Whatever it was, he couldn't guess, but he could assume he was about to find out shortly. "Okay, I trust you," he began. Of course he trusted her. After all, they had been together for almost an entire year and she had never done anything to convince him otherwise. He'd trust her with absolutely anything. "I doubt I'll be able to sleep on the way there since I'm getting excited, but we'll see. Besides, your singing would wake me up anyway." Connor smiled, nodding his head in response to her last question. How could he turn down going some place where the two of them would be completely alone? He needed to live a little, anyway. "Just let me find some shoes and I should be all ready to head out," he added, stepping back inside next to the doorway to slip on the nearest pair of shoes he could find. "It's okay if I look kind of sloppy, right?" He asked, locking the door and closing it behind him once he was fully prepared to start the late night adventure Darcy had in store.

Darcy walked the pathway she had so many times before, a thin blanket wrapped around her shoulders as she made her way towards Connor. She was lucky, she’d discovered once she’d stepped out of her dorm, because the skies were clear and the temperature was just right for a walk. Darcy attempted to guess what time it was, since she failed to pass by a clock on her way out the door, but she figured it was late based on how dark it had grown since the last time she’d been up. As she took light steps through the school’s hallways it dawned on her that she was always showing up at Connor’s door unannounced in the middle of the night. Part of her felt guilty at this realization, for waking him once again, but she quickly shook the feeling from her conscious as she arrived at the door that separated them. Maybe late night adventures that stemmed from her inability to sleep could be their thing.
The girl’s grip tightened on the edge of the blanket as she grabbed her cellphone from her pocket. Sending a quick text to see whether Connor was still awake or not, Darcy decided she didn’t have the patience to wait for a reply and knocked on the door lightly, hoping he’d be able to hear it. Stepping away from the door, she tapped her foot lightly as she waited for a response from the other side and made up her mind on where exactly she was dragging him off to.
Lazily rolling over to the opposite side of the mattress, Connor patted the bed searching for his phone, not even bothering to open his eyes right that second. He felt drained; the obvious effect of not enough sleep greatly dragging down both his appearance and mood. The knock on the door was enough to alter his assumption that it was just his routine alarm going off, a confused expression soon replacing his pouted lips. He hadn't been expecting anyone at such an hour. The only time someone had ever stopped by for an unannounced visit this late was the morning of Christmas day and it had been no one other than Darcy herself. And then it clicked. It had to be Darcy waiting outside again. The boy grabbed his phone and checked the message, thankful the only person he would allow to come over whenever they wanted to popped up on the screen. Excited, he practically jumped off of the bed and ran towards the dorm entrance with heavy footsteps.
Before allowing himself to come face to face with the girl on the other side, he lightly combed through his hair with his fingers. He couldn't look too much of a mess in front of her. Twisting the knob, he swung the door open with such animation as if he had never been tired in the first place. "Hi," he beamed, further opening the door so there was nothing left to block each other's view of the other. "What're you doing here? Not that I mind it," he rambled. "Is everything okay? Do you want to come in or what?"
Every once in a while I decide to be cruel and drag them down though, it’s another easy way to kill someone if you don’t give them access to food. Huh, I’ve been too busy with baseball and video games to really take notice, but now that you’ve said it, it is pretty quiet around here. Maybe this weekend or next I’ll try to throw something together.
It was fun removing all of the doors and other possible ways to escape and then letting the entire house on fire, too. I guess I just liked burning people alive the most. I haven't played it in forever, and you're kind of making me want to dig the discs up. If you need any help throwing something together for everyone, just let me know. I'm sure I can find time out of my busy schedule of sleeping and showering to come help out.
I think my Sims would just die, because I have to admit I used the cheat to just drag up their moods an awful lot. I’d just build a small pool first to drown the disposable characters, then delete it and start building. Sounds good to me, it’ll help me kick the habit and get some social interaction.
I always use that cheat to make sure they don't starve to death or stink to where flies are swarming around them. That's smart, I've just never thought about it I guess. Yeah, it's been sort of dead and everyone could hangout again like old times. It'd be nice.
I don’t know a single person that didn’t use the cheat; I tried going without it once but after a couple days I gave up and gave in. Burning too dangerous, and also likely they could survive. The real way to go is putting them in a pool and then deleting the ladder. Will do, I’ll have to make myself spend this week by a pool hopefully with nondeletable ladders.
There's no way I would have made it through that game without using cheats. I'd be shocked if someone has, honestly. I was too lazy to find a pool; I usually just killed them off before I even started building so that was my go-to method. The pool sounds like a fun idea. You could have a party or something so there's other people around to make sure you don't drown.
You get to customize more in 3, but the two games are overall very similar. That was me this whole week, honestly. I’m probably five shades lighter and I’m scared the light is about to hurt my eyes.
Yeah? I just always used the cheat code and made some huge mansion where I'd have a whole house of teenagers live. And since you have to have an adult, they'd usually be burned alive or something within the first five minutes so it could be just them. Go outside with sunglasses and some sunscreen to be safe.
I spent the last week in my room playing Sims 3. That shit is addictive, I knew there was a reason I stopped.
I like the Sims 2 better only because the people don't look as strange, but I used to sit on the computer for hours straight playing it. My only breaks were to pee and to get snacks, honestly.
You raise a good point there, Connie. Plus, there were all these people I didn’t know who were kind of judgey and snobby which made things even more awkward.
I have to deal with snobby people quite often; they're the worst. The method which seems to work the most is just pretending they're not there, but it's a bit more difficult with you considering they're family.
I think the only thing I won’t miss is the language barrier. I can’t count on one hand how many times I meant to ask for the nearest train station, and was pointed in the direction of a bathroom.
That's probably the only downside to visiting a foreign country. I would've had Google Translate open on my phone at all times, not gonna lie.
Too damn much.
It'll be over before you know it, no worries.
You’re probably right, Connor. Maybe what I need to do is search for more enjoyable activities.
There aren't too many things out there that are necessarily fun to do when it comes to working out, but maybe you could put on a playlist to get you pumped for it.
Working out isn’t nearly as satisfying as they claim it to be.
It's not so dreadful after it becomes a normal part of your everyday routine.
