The love that Viktor has for Yuuri is absolutely beautiful.

Episode 10 really made me appreciate Viktuuri even more as a healthy and beautiful romance. I’m super happy that Kubo-sensei decided to portray it in such a healthy and human way.

From episode 10 we’ve realised that Yuuri had actually seduced Viktor at the previous Grand Prix, and that explained Viktor’s intimacy in the first few episodes and his surprise when Yuuri acted uncomfortable.

Viktor’s impression of Yuuri, and what captivated him, was Yuuri’s boldness. You have this guy dancing and battling others and being the life of the party, fearlessly asking for a world-class skater to be his coach.

And yet when Viktor shows up and does just that, Yuuri is shy and all tense, with low self esteem. In fact, he’s almost unreceptive.

What happened to the bold and passionate guy at the banquet? What happened to the guy who wanted Viktor to be his coach?

He’s still there, underneath all the other layers of Yuuri’s personality. It shows whenever Yuuri performs Eros or when he’s passionate about something.

But often, people don’t stick around Long enough to see that. They decide to leave when someone doesn’t live up to their initial expectations of the. And yet, Viktor stays and gets to know Yuuri regardless, because that’s just the kind of guy he is.

And even when he realises that the guy that initially caught his eye WAS somewhere in there, he never tried forcing Yuuri to act that way all the time, to become the person that he was initially attracted to.

In fact, the only time Viktor ever expected or pushed Yuuri to be even a little like the Yuuri he met at the banquet, was when he was trying to build his self-esteem and make Yuuri more confident of himself. It’s not about turning Yuuri into the person he wants him to be, but about helping Yuuri believe in himself.

People are not one dimensional, and they always have so many aspects to their personalities. Viktor understands that, and gets to know ALL of Yuuri, accepting and loving him for the person that he is; the confident and bold Yuuri, but also the insecure Yuuri, the anxious Yuuri, and the timid Yuuri.

Sure, Viktor stumbles and struggles sometimes, trying to figure out how to handle this side of Yuuri that he didn’t expect, but he learns from it to become a better partner and to become the support that Yuuri needs.

He’s starts thinking of what to do to help him, to be there for him, now knowing what Yuuri is like as a person.

Accepting someone for all that they are and understanding that that means having to deal with the good and the bad, the beautiful and the ugly, and yet still loving them wholeheartedly, in my opinion, is absolutely beautiful.
