     Despite Sapphire’s attempts to get him to leave, he stayed where he was. He normally didn’t join her on her field research, but he was curious today: what was so good about it, anyway?

“…Simple curiosity.” Nope, it’s not like she wanted to get him a nice, thoughtful gift. A practical gift, the best kind of gift, really. In the form of comfortable underwear.

          “...Boxer-briefs,” he mumbled, hoping that Sapphire wouldn’t hear him.

“I have good hearin’, dum-dum.” She points at her ears, before inching a bit closer to him. “So? I’m listenin’.”

          “But why would you even want to know? Do you have a fascination with my underwear or something?” He was desperately clutching at straws.

She gives a non-committal shrug. “Oh, I overheard some dumb boys yakkin’ on ‘bout underwear an’ which ones makes ‘em cool an’ manly. So, what scale do you fall on, pretty boy?”

          “How would you even overhear that?” He was definitely avoiding the subject, and he hoped that she wouldn’t notice ( he knew better to hope too much, however ).

By having Zinnia be the owner of the Salamance from Ruby and Sapphire’s back story, the following must be true: 

As Salamance attacked Ruby and Sapphire first, she must’ve given it orders to mow down everything and everyone in its path to get to Rayquaza, casualties be damned.

Since she recognized Ruby as the boy who fought against her Salamance, that means that she was indeed watching her Pokemon nearly slashing open his head and she didn’t call it off.

In Pokespe, a fairly skilled trainer can easily tell if a Pokemon is wild or trained. Because Ruby whipped Salamance into a frenzy while fighting it off, not even Norman realized it wasn’t wild, leading him to the conclusion that Ruby was solely responsible and not an outside party. Thus, he didn’t even think to look for said party and immediately took all the blame onto himself to protect his son.

So Zinnia got off scot free with no one coming after her, presumably recalling Salamance when no one was looking.

Also, Zinnia doesn’t seem to have much in the ways of empathy; before she leaves Ruby, she doesn’t say anything like, sorry for screwing over the lives of you, your dad, and your not-girlfriend. Nope, just a cheery thank you for your unknowing help. And Ruby’s last expression shows that he definitely has some issues with her…

1. Go on a date with them

She shifted nervously, arms behind her back and fiddling with something. “So, er, okay. Get this. I sorta…. landed two pair of tickets to er, this big, fancy smhancy party at this equally fancy luxury cruise. “  How she got them, she wouldn’t say—but something about a radio show and Luvdiscs and a contest raffle winner. It’d been all pure, dumb luck. She took a deep breath before giving the most nonchalant look she could muster. “So, you comin’ or what?”

                                                             Hoo boy. 

     Was she really asking him out on a...date? On aboard a fancy cruise liner? Honestly, he never believed her to be the type, and he was suddenly struck with an image of Sapphire swinging on some crystal chandelier to beat everyone to a huge buffet table. A shiver of fear ran through his body; although, he knew ( hoped ) she wouldn’t do that. 

     However, were they ready for them to go on a date ( to evolve their friendship and rivalry to something more? )? They were older than they used to be, both of them at fourteen ( although, he was turning fifteen soon ), but were they really ready for this? 

     Was he ready for this? ( Time to feign nonchalance. ) 

      He let out a sigh. “I suppose I have to, if only to stop you from eating all the food in sight.”
