I do not endorse the corporate functionality of Hilary Clinton but it’s more important now than ever to understand we’re uniting against a monster.
Live Music: Worcester
From large pop concert style venues like the DCU Center, to the both parts feared and respected hard rock/death metal venue the Palladium, to the classically styled concert hall at the Hanover Theatre, Worcester is full of blossoming destinations for the live music fan. Live music and theatre industries have seen steady success over the last decade. And the trend is the same outside of Worcester as well. First Research credited the performing arts industry, as well as the bars and nightclubs industries with a medium growth rate in 2016. Average hourly earnings reached the highest they have ever been in theatre, and bars and nightclubs saw a one percent industry employment growth from the year previous. Worcester’s live music industry trends being parallel with the rest of the country in a medium growth rate market show a promising sign for the future of live music and College Musick.
CM Weekend Schedule
Thanks to Worcester’s strange seasonal patterns, summer might be starting early this year. Crowds of people packed the greens of college campuses all over the city Friday, as students everywhere closed their laptops and said goodbye to finals once and for all (until 355 days in the future). College Musick fans and users know summer season is live music season and, as expected, we delivered. The next week is packed with scheduled shows all over Worcester from our greatest group of talent yet. Here’s the lineup:
Fri 4/29 Jamstu Nu Café 3 PM Free
Fri 4/29 Van Ward DCU Center 9 PM $6 cover
Sat 4/30 3 Piece Meal Electric Haze 11 PM $10 cover
Sun 4/31 Mellophants Chickpea 1 PM Free
In the Spotlight: “THREE PIECE MEAL”
Clark University-based experimental rock band that mixes elements of progressive rock, jazz fusion, funk and indie, 3 Piece Meal includes three of Clark's most talented musicians playing rock music with a revolutionary motive– to spread important social messages and inspire the masses. The band unites the talents of bassist Asir Arif, guitar player Diego Baraona, and percussionist/keyboard player Akiba Davis. Their music is progressive— upbeat, inspirational, groovy and psychedelic. Each member of the group brings a unique quirk– from thought provoking lyrics to instrumental solos and odd time signatures. On the rise and already receiving good exposure, recent shows include WCUW community show appearances, local charity events, and opening for fellow artist Olivia Frances at her album release for “Evergreen.” They're currently in the midst of working on their much anticipated debut album and considering touring New England Summer of 2016.
