Fics with emotional sex?
Heya friend, hereâs some emotional sex for you ⊠.
Emotional Sex
Ugly Duckling bytestosterone_tea, 6 k, explicit. Sherlock has spent his life thinking that heâsugly, and it really wouldnât bother him except for two things: a) he wants Johnto like him, and b) he finds himself on a case involving underwear modeling. But apparently body positivity comes with a bloody side dish of serial killing, and John in nothing but pants is very distracting. Whatâs an ugly duckling todo?
Silhouettes byallonsys_girl, 28 k, explicit. Sherlock and John find comfort in each otherâsarms, but as ever with these two, itâs not your typical relationship. Itâsfluffy at the beginning, gets deeply angsty in the middle, gets porny at theend.
State of Flux byatiki, 24 k, explicit. This story is perfect. Just perfect. John returns to221b after splitting up with Mary, and he and Sherlock work their way backtogether. Slowly, they deepen their relationship to something loving, andphysical but it feels so organic, there is never a divide between one thing orthe other.
Figuring It Out Together byChrisCalledMeSweetie, 18 k, explicit. âSo, being emotionally intimate makes youwant to be physically intimate?ââYes.â âOkay. And, uh, how far are youinterested in going with that?â
Eggs and Toast and Love Confessions by allonsys_girl, 10 k,explicit. Mary is out of the way, and John is back at 221B, but theyâve beentiptoeing around each other for months. Finally they admit how they feel, andfall in to bed.
What Heâs Like bymagikspell, 2 k, explicit. Virginlock. First time, slightly awkward realisticsex. âIâm so in love with you,â John says, a statement of fact.âI will never not be in love with you.â Sherlock is so embarrassed.Talking and laughing in bed.
the thunder underneath his ribs by darcylindbergh, 5 k, explicit. Six or seven, maybe eight monthslater, thereâs a thunderstorm in London. Sometimes things have to fall apartbefore they fall together.
Where the Heart Is byMount_Seleya, 2 k, explicit. John learns that Sherlock flatlined after Maryshot him. Everything changes.
Slim to None bytestosterone_tea, 9 k, explicit. John isnât normally one for self-confidenceissues, but following a case, heâs hit with a wave of self-doubt. John isdetermined to get back his self confidence in any way possible.
Safe in His Mouth byScienceofObsession, 2 k, explicit. When a particularly awful case has Sherlockand John in emotional shreds, they come together to help each other heal in thebest way they know how.
Mornings (Mournings) byHumsHappily, 10 k, explicit. If he had been asked, John would answered that hehad expected their first time together to be fast. A moment of passion, teethclashing together, tongues warring. Instead, their first night was slow, nearlyachingly so. It started with a caseâŠ.

Fuck em
Itâs weird because just when I think Iâm done being angry about S4, I get sucked back in.
Iâm angry that Mark and Steven made no effort to ensure that their writing made sense. Beta reader. Editor. Script doctor. Anything at all would have given them some kind of objectivity on where they were failing the narrative.
Iâm angry that the production values were shit. So many continuity errors. Set issues. Prop issues. The lamest fucking explosion effects Iâve ever seen (seriously, after going to the trouble of debunking the fan theory that Sherlock jumped from Barts into the lorry with the washing bags because the âangle was too steepâ, we get âBoop, and theyâre fineâ?) And everyone was fucking orange. Seriously, given the money I personally have contributed to this production, I would have thought they had the budget at least do as well as they did before? If money was that tight, a fucking GoFundMe would have hit its target in hours, right? Iâd have been happy to bung in a couple hundred bucks so Sherlock didnât look like he was using Trumpâs spray tanner.
Iâm angry because I am a fan of the most famous detective in English literature, and they gave me a season full of red herrings, nonsensical details and meaningless âcluesâ and then got mad at me for noticing.
And Iâm angry about that. Iâm angry that they played us. They INVITED the fandom to engage. They embraced and they teased and they told us how much they loved us. And then when any of usâshippers or notâhad the audacity to ask WHY about S4, we got gaslighted. Iâm not advocating cyberbullying, at all. But why would you block and insult the people who helped make your show a hit when they express confusion about where the show has gone? They WANTED us to be this invested. But suddenly we were no longer their audience. We became bizarre social rejects who canât take a joke.
Oh, and Iâm really angry about the queerbaiting. Iâm angry about the shitty portrayals of women. Every fucking one of them. Iâm angry about the lily white cast. And the complete waste of Rupert Graves and Toby Jones. And Sacha Dawan. And Lars Mikkelson, come to that.
I fell in love with Sherlock, so I didnât expect to get a sad Spectre/Saw/Silence of the Lambs knock off that No Homoed so hard it literally broke the show. If Mofftiss wanted to audition to write Bond, they shouldnât have wasted our time to do it.
So yeah, guess Iâm still pissed.
âŠAlso left cracks in the foundation they had laid out. Retcons and magicians are not needed in a Holmes adaptation, and I agree 100% about that Bond mess. Of course thatâs what they were doing.Â
Iâm pissed too. Pissed at the plot holes. Pissed at the no-homo. Pissed at the John Watson character assassination. Pissed at how I signed up for a Sherlock Holmes adaptation but in the end got The Mary Show instead.
I could go onâŠ.but yeah, Iâm pissed. What a waste S4 & it could have been amazing. Shame on Mofftiss
Iâm pissed too. Still am. I canât say it better than the OP but Iâm here and mad too. Itâs not just that they turned it into Bond, they turned it into BAD Bond. It was ridiculous nonsense. Donât punish your audience with garbage because you canât get ahead of their theories. They praised us and told us to look for more clues then get mad when we do it or ask questions about where things are going. They are in for a shock when they find out that the shipping fans, the really fannish fans are the ones that SPEND MONEY. Casuals donât open their wallets. And all the official Sherlock merch is crazy overpriced. I know Iâm not spending anymore money on them. If I really want a Sherlock shirt or mug or whatever Iâm buying fan art. Fuck them. They made their show so bad fans thought it was a FAKE episode.

LOOK
you donât need to study literature (although this is what I do) to see that these two men are in L O V E
BONUS: this is what Sir Arthur Conan Doyle says himself
just a few of many, feel free to add more
@nerdycauseimmeâ actually, according to his official biography, âConan Doyleâs feelings about homosexuality were more liberal than the norm, which may have been the reason why, he later was not elevated to sit in the House of Lordsâ! Homosexuality was a criminal offence in England until 1967, however, so, like most people wishing to avoid the law, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle had to be covert in his support and portrayal of it.
@mionewattsâ actually, queer readings of the Sherlock Holmes canon have been around for decades!
They go back, on paper, as far as 1941, when Rex Stout gave a talk to the Sherlock Holmes society The Baker Street Irregulars entitled âWas Watson a woman?â Although mostly tongue in cheek (and unfortunately quite sexist), this set a precedent in the Holmesian community for reading Holmes and Watson as romantically involved.
Since then, masses of academia on the subject has been produced. Thereâs honestly too much to summarise here, so here are just a couple of my favourite examples:
The Adventure of the Three Students begins âIt was in the year â95 that a combination of events, into which I need not enter, caused Mr. Sherlock Holmes and myself to spend some weeks in one of our great university towns, and it was during this time that the small but instructive adventure which I am about to relate befell us.â 1895 was the year in which Oscar Wilde (with whom, according to the aforementioned official biography, Conan Doyle âgot along famouslyâ) was tried and sentenced to two years of hard labour for âgross indecencyâ. While the Labouchere Amendment had devised this sentence in 1885, there hadnât been an enormous amount of convictions up to this point, as the law generally preferred to just pretend that something they deemed as shameful as homosexuality didnât exist and cover it up rather than expose it. However, Wildeâs case brought the issue to public attention and many men were tried and charged in 1895, making London one of the most dangerous places to be for men who were attracted to men at that time, and many of them left the city as a result.* Samuel Rosenberg also makes an excellent argument for Wilde as a source of inspiration to Conan Doyle in Naked is the Best Disguise. *See Neil Bartlettâs Who Was That Man?: A Present For Mr Oscar Wilde for more information.
There are two instances in the canon where one man kills another in defence of the woman he loves, and Holmes allows him to walk free in light of the circumstances. One is The Adventure of the Abbey Grange, in which the perpetrator asks, after making his confession, âWas I wrong? Well, then, what would either of you gentlemen have done, if you had been in my position?â The other is The Adventure of the Devilâs Foot, in which the perpetrator says âPerhaps, if you loved a woman, you would have done as much yourself.â This time, Holmes concedes, and says: âI have never loved, Watson, but if I did and if the woman I loved had met such an end, I might act even as our lawless lion-hunter has done. Who knows?â Holmes never does fall in love with a woman, but in The Adventure of the Three Garridebs, Watson is shot, and Holmes leaps to his defence, about which Watson says âFor the one and only time I caught a glimpse of a great heart as well as of a great brain. All my years of humble but single-minded service culminated in that moment of revelation.â Assured that Watson is alright, Holmes turns to his assailant and says âBy the Lord, it is as well for you. If you had killed Watson, you would not have got out of this room alive.â As you can see, this very clearly parallels the romantically coded actions described in Abbey Grange and Devilâs Foot.
Iâve also written on the use of language in the Sherlock Holmes canon and how it reflects the ways in which sexuality was discussed in the late 19th century in an article called Omi-Palone for The Practical Handbook of Bee Culture, and the wonderful @weeesi has done extensive research on the queer historical context of Sherlock Holmes, if any of that strikes your fancy!
EDIT: Iâve also compiled more evidence here, and would also like to recommend @astudyincanon!
Of course, Conan Doyle couldnât make Holmes and Watsonâs relationship explicitly romantic - as I mentioned earlier, homosexuality was a criminal offence at the time, and The Picture of Dorian Gray was used as evidence against Wilde during his trial - but he dropped more than enough hints for many people to have been noticing and writing about them for over 75 years!
Billy Wilder even attempted to write a queer adaptation in 1970, but was very unfortunately unable to do so, and therefore had to settle for writing Holmes as being unrequitedly in love with Watson in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes.
I hope that clears a few things up for you both!
Posh Boy
POSH BOY - JOHNLOCK
the posh boy has a filthy mouth by mishezza, 1 k, explicit. John took a sharp breath and exhaled loudly. Sherlock did not know what he had done wrong this time but he knew this reaction of John. He always did it when Sherlock had done something that had upset John and he knew what was going to happen next. Something along the lines of âBloody hell Sherlockâ would escape Johnâs mouth and then he would look at him in anger and tell him about how he was an idiot..or whatever.
Concrete Visuals by justacookieofacumberbatch (buffyholic), 1 k, mature. John Watson just wants to mess up his posh boy.
Things Needed by BakerStTardis (Sokashi), 5 k, gen. A little Season 4 fix it inspired by requests on alexxphoenix42 âs blog for John calling Sherlock Posh Boy and the changing of Rosieâs name.
We Agreed, No More Secrets by SherlocksSister, 9 k, explicit. John and Rosie are living back at Baker Street when Irene texts again. This time, they have a proper conversation about the nature of the relationship between Irene and Sherlock and why she texts him. Truths are shared.
A Wedding, a Kilt, and Angel Eyes to Die For by alexxphoenix42, 6 k, explicit. When John agrees to be best man for Harryâs wedding, he has no idea how much heâs getting into. For starters, the tall drink of water playing on stage with the band is going to be the death of him.
POSH BOY - MYSTRADE
Love Story in Trash Polka by Sebastian_Michael (sebastian2017), 2 k, gen, Mystrade. Greg has a type. His type is a far cry from what one would expect from a tattoo artist. Ever since he was a teenager, heâd had a thing for well dressed, posh boys. And the florist he buys his latest batch of flowers from? Definitely his type.
Stop Staring by LizzieCarlton, 4 k, mature. Greg always enjoyed the influx of naive, young freshmen at the beginning of the year, but this time he had his eye on one in particular. The boy was posh, privileged and well dressed. To say he was Gregâs type would be an understatement. It was all he could do to stop himself dragging the man from his seat and tearing the suit trousers from his never ending legs.
âYouâre not hurt, Watson? For Godâs sake, say that you are not hurt!â
The Three Garridebs
Draw your chair up and hand me my violin, for the only problem we have still to solve is how to while away these bleak autumnal evenings.
Holmes taking care of his Watson in The Noble Bachelor
The story opens with Watson complaining that the weather was taking a toll on his health and preventing him from leaving the flat. Â And here we have Holmes in the closing lines of the story seeking to help Watson pass the night in more comfort than the day.

MY TIME HAS COME
so youâd need a bouquet of geraniums (stupidity), foxglove (insincerity), meadowsweet (uselessness), yellow carnations (you have disappointed me), and orange lilies (hatred). it would be quite striking! and full of loathing.
im no Florist but I thought Iâd try my hand at such a beautiful gift of absolute loathing
omfg
I missed you, John, I missed you so much⊠Shhh, I know it, I missed you tooâŠ
i know this is supposed to be about when sherlock and john get reunited but ⊠this is literally sherlock after john gets back from the grocery store or somethingÂ
A lot of pets will ignore you, but only a cat will follow you from room to room and check your lines of vision to make absolutely certain that you can see them ignoring you.
theyre not ignoring you! this is actually just a cats way of saying they want to keep you company without infringing on your personal space. its the equivalent of going to a friends house while you both separately scroll through tumblr, even though youre glad to be together. alternatively the cat could be curious about what you are doing, but shy to make its presence known. either way the cat is paying very close attention to you!
this made me feel better
đș
I donât understand why cats will have everything they do demonized no matter how innocent it is
My cat does this when Iâm around other people (sheâs a VERY anxious kitty like me but I love her anyway). Literally, itâs her saying âi want your attention but I donât like them so you have to leave and pay attention to me somewhere elseâ and as soon as I get up and move towards her she does that little leap thing they do to turn around where like their head swivels and it shows just how excited they are that youâre coming to love them.
Cats are so good and full of love and are just trying their best
