You know who else is a US ally we send money to for security cooperation? Fucking Pakistan. Or the UAE funding and arming the RSF's civil war in Sudan, including their Darfur genocide (the sequel), which has now overtaken it? Not to mention the abuse and enslavement of migrant workers! You want to set up an encampment at your university demanding they divest from the UAE or stop taking money from Qatar? It's all dirty fossil fuel money anyway! Don't you want to harass your political representatives and threaten them with death if they don't promise never to take money from Gulf Arab interests, and always to vote against weapons sales to them?

NEITHER: Healed injuries and burns, congenital differences, missing appendages, etc. If I could theoretically go to the store and see that character browsing the isles- It isn't body horror or gore. That's just a person. *AND the amount of people that tag, not just fictional characters, but real human beings as body horror is staggering. Its not solely a fandom issue, ableism and bigotry against anyone that looks sufficiently "different" is prevalent in real life and has devastating consequences.

Yacouba Sawadogo - Wikipedia

The half-circles are called zaï! They're a traditional farming practice in the Sahel desert, and their introduction + reintroduction can be largely credited to Yacouba Sawadogo, the man linked above! He reintroduced and innovated on the zaï on his own farm in the 1980s, and did extensive outreach (along with scientist Mathieu Ouédraogo) to encourage other farmers to adopt them as well.

He also promoted the use of cordons pierreux, which are basically just lines of rocks to reduce erosion, preserve sediments, and increase water absorption.

Immensely cool dude. He's been a personal hero since I learned about him.
