A large part of my family hates the story of Alexander Supertramp (Chris McCandless) because of how stupid this man was for going into the wild almost fully unprepared. And they're VERY adamant about how stupid and horrible this man was for doing so but I feel like they're dismissing him too quickly.

I understand his need to have done what he did. To leave everything behind to go experience life without societal expectations and as much freedom as human nature and nature itself will permit. Not treading on anyone's feet, just living life.

Maybe I'm just too mentally ill but it hurts me every time they dismiss him so fast and call him stupid. I think it's an unfortunate story of a man who just wanted to live life in peace, away from all the noise.

NB! My main source for his story is the movie made about him (Dir. Sean Penn) I've yet to read the book (as it's difficult for me lmao)
