She didn’t even know why she was here. It’s not like she necessarily liked him at all, rather that it was Friday night and she had no plans. At least, he had picked a good movie.
A small smile began to grace the girl’s face as she watched the family be reunited. Her attention was broken as she heard a small sob come from Josh.
“Josh, are you okay?” She could drop the tough girl facade for a few minutes.
Shit.
He couldn’t hide it anymore. Hands removing themselves from his face to instead thrash about to find the DAMN remote, Josh averted his gaze from the girl’s as her disconcerted look bore into him.
Tears refusing to surrender, the boy gave up and BOLTED up out of his seat upon the couch, ignoring Natalia and speed-walking to his upstairs bedroom. As he reached the foot of the stairs, a mumble left roseate lips:
‘ You don’t need to see me like this. You wouldn’t understand. No, no no—stupid fuckin’ movie— ‘ Josh continued to ramble as he treaded up the steps slowly, subconsciously hoping that she’d stop him.
