A wince, for the slap bestowed on the young Shepherd has got to be painful, and with a sigh, she tips her glass onto a spare bit of cloth, letting cool water seep into its fabric before she crosses the room to hand it over.Â
âAre you all right, Inigo? Perhaps next time you ought to, ah, tone it down just a bit.âÂ
His cheek stung horribly, causing him to tense up from the pain as he carefully placed his hand over the side of his face. With a defeated sigh, he somberly watched the woman who had previously been standing in front of him vanish out of sight.
It was then the voice of another caught his attention. Turning to the sound, he immediately felt a pang of embarrassment that rivaled the one he had just been experiencing. Had Robin witnessed that whole unfortunate fiasco?
âOh--â Her words insinuated that she had. Reaching out to accept the offered cloth, he pressed it against his cheek, muttering a quick thanks. âI donât understand! All I did was say that I couldnât believe someone like her was single! Er, okay, maybe that wasnât all I said... But still!â

One last twirl on her feet, her right hand sweeping an arc before her foot extends, settling into its final position and coming to rest. A soft smile, for this dance has always put her at ease.Â
âAndâŠthatâs it, really! Though your version is nice, too, in itâs own way.â
Inigo stood by silently, carefully watching his motherâs every move. The ending of her dance was much different from the one he had been conjuring himself for all this time, yet he immediately grew more fond of this version as he viewed it. He had spent many of his recent years wondering what the original final moves had been, after all-- it was almost overwhelming to see them now.
âThat was wonderful, mother!â he expressed, taking a few steps forward to lessen the distance between them. âI fear my version pales in comparison to yours-- but that is to be expected from a skilled dancer such as yourself. I still have a lot to learn from you.â

âIf you insist.â He leans back against the tree, looking over at the other male. âI hadnât expected anyone else to be here either. This is a rather secluded spot.â It was a spot he commonly came to nap around midday. It was hard for him to sleep around the other soldiers or even in his own home.
âRight-- I suppose it is a little... Out of the way,â his own words made him feel even more nervous, and he momentarily averted his gaze, suddenly finding the ground by his feet much more interesting.
âEr, with that in mind-- what brings you here, exactly?â

âEhâ?â he blinked, tilting his head forward and catching the bag between his palms as it fell. âCookies? Are these for me?â

Lucina smiled and took the flower. âThank you, Inigo. Itâs lovely.â She gave him a kiss on the cheek in thanks.
âEr--â feeling a deep flush begin to burn on his cheeks, he sheepishly shifted his weight, putting a hand over where she had kissed him.
âN-no problem, Lucina! Iâm glad you like it.â He felt an overwhelming sense of awkwardness creeping up on him, and in order to try and stave it off as best he could, he decided to keep talking. âUm. How has your special day been for you so far?â

     â Oh â uh â Inigo, Iâm sorry.Â
I didnât know you would be out here.       I just thought Iâd step away from my      work for a bit and âÂ
I didnât mean to startle you while you wereâŠ.Â
                You wereâŠ.Â
                   Dancing  ? â
âR-Robinââ The appearance of the other caused Inigo to halt in his movements, stumbling back a couple paces as his frame shrunk in embarrassment.
ââN-no, you werenâtâ I mean, I wasnât,â he paused for a moment, giving himself time to correctly arrange his words. âI, er, was only taking a walk! Yes. Um, you can carry on, donât let me distract you.â

âOut for a stroll I assume? I can leave.â Serge gets up from his spot next to the tree, brushing the dirt off of his cloak. He was honestly hoping no one would pass through here, he really wasnât in the mood for any confrontation.
âOh-- thereâs no need for that. You were here first, after all,â he started a bit nervously, shifting his weight after coming to a standstill. âI simply didnât expect anyone to be out here-- thatâs all.â

Lucina could tell by his reaction what exactly he was doing, but she chose to ignore it to save her mood. Tea shops? Lucina always loved good tea. âIâd love to go sometime. It sounds lovely.â
Lucina shook her head, but admired the blue dress he pulled out. âIâve been told I have a terrible sense of fashion, so Iâve just been browsing.â
âAh-- really? Great!â It was the last answer he was expecting for his proposal, but he certainly wasnât displeased. Considering how long it had been since the two of them saw each other, the thought of having the time to catch up put a smile on his face.
Turning on his heels, he held the dress up to Lucina, pondering what she would look like if she donned it. âA terrible sense of fashion? I hardly think so. You have always looked beautiful to me,â he mused, tilting his head to the side. âAnd this would look stunning on you! Would you like to try it on?â

She nodded lightly at the other and sighed. âI could use a rest, but why trek all the way into to do that? There is a stream nearby that is peaceful enough to rest by,â
âI have some dried peaches in my bag,â
At this point, he wasnât sure if the other had plainly rejected him or if she was offering an alternative date plan. The first option being rather undesirable, Inigo decided to assume the latter.
âA stream? That sounds just as lovely. Would you mind leading me to this peaceful area?â

Lucina had woken in cold sweat, her breathing labored upon doing so. She shot up in her makeshift bed and tried not to cry out. While taking in deep breaths in attempt to regain a more normal breathing pattern, blue eyes glanced around the room -reminding her that she was in her tent and not the horrible future she has narrowly escaped. She was safe, as safe as one could be on a campaign like this
A single had ran through her long deep blue locks as she finally gained control of her breathing. Knowing sleep wouldnât find her again after the nightmare she had just endured, the princess rose from her bed and proceeded to get dressed. After slipping her cape on and placing Falchion in itâs scabbard she left the tent behind.
Taking quiet steps, as to not waken the others, she slowly made her way from the camp. After all, just because she was awake at this hour doesnât mean anyone else needed to be. They all needed their rest, it wasnât often the army was able to stay peacefully in one place for so long. Especially with them due to march once again in a day or two.
She made her way slowly towards a clearing in the woods she had discovered a few night prior when nightmares had kept her from a peaceful sleep as well. The flowers that grew in the field there filled her with a sense of nostalgia for those that grew in the garden in Ylissetol, and she knew the sight of the would bring her comfort. However once the girl got closer she heard a sound coming from the path ahead. Out of instinct a hand reached for Falchionâs hilt, ready to draw the blade if necessary. Taking small steps forward her eyes spotted a figure in the distance despite the early dawn light.
Cautiously she approached the figure, and soon found that the person ahead looked familiar. âInigo?â She called out before continuing forward, her grip on Falchion relaxing. âIs that You?â
He felt a twinge of anxiety as the sound grew closer, and he rose back to his feet in case a quick movement became necessary. Had an enemy followed him here? It was a rather disappointing thought-- they had just been caught up in an unusual bout of peace for quite some time, after all. But he knew as well as anyone that such moments never lasted.
The sound was close enough now that Inigo could just barely make out the figure that caused it. His anxiety piqued for a few long seconds, heartbeat pounding against his chest, when a familiar voice rang out. Blinking, he relaxed his stance, relief washing over him as he did so. âLucina?â he muttered, half to himself. He suddenly felt silly for his initial reaction-- it was just Lucina! Nothing to be afraid of. Hopefully he didnât cause her any concern with his own temporary, borderline panic.
âItâs me!â he affirmed, making his tone as cheery as possible. He flinched at the slight waver in his voice-- was he really that disheveled? Hopefully the other wouldnât notice. Securing his sword to his belt, he took a few steps forward, closing the distance between them slightly. âWhat brings you here, Lucina? And at such an early hour, too! Were you looking for me?â
princessofthedoomedfuture
Normally Lucina would have been annoyed by his eagerness, but today she wasnât bugged by it. It was nice to see Inigo after so long that she didnât mind it.
âYes, it is me.â She gave him a small smile. âWhat brings you to the market, Inigo?â She noticed the look on his face when he noticed the dresses, but chose to ignore it.
âWell, yes, actually. I am looking, and your assistance would be greatly appreciated.â
âEr-- well,â he wasnât all that eager to admit his fruitless afternoon of skirt-chasing, especially not to Lucina. Scanning through the dresses more closely, he decided to dance around the topic. âI come here fairly often, really. There are a few nice tea shops around here-- I should show them to you some time!â
Pulling out a simple blue dress from the rack, he glanced over it as he continued. âWonderful! They have a few really nice ones here, it seems. Are there any you already have your eye on, by chance?â
