No, I actually strongly disagree with this. It's honestly upsetting me a little. Everything about The Boss says "Mother." She's nurturing, loving, and self-sacrificing to a fault, traits that are classically attributed to mothers, and that clearly contrast the fathers of the series. The Boss is defined by a motherly love, not just for Snake, but for the entire world. She wants to protect it, not just her own country, but all of it. That's why she makes the choices she makes. She's a mother through and through, the birth scar still prominently visible on her body. This defines her ideology. In a franchise that's so focused on "the sins of the father", the ultimate moral compass of the entire series-spanning narrative is a mother. That can't be an accident. If Solid Snake has daddy issues, Naked Snake absolutely has mommy issues, and these are not interchangeable. You can't swap these genders around and come to the same story. I reject that idea.

Of course I get it. This game changed my life. The Boss is one of the best characters in videogames.
