More and more women are choosing to stay home and a lot of them have figured out how to start a business. If you currently work outside the home, you might wonder if you can take the plunge and become a WAHM.

Can you afford to quit work?

Depending on the business you want to start, it might take some time for the money to start rolling in. Can you afford to live on your spouses' income or your savings during that time?

Will one income cover all of the expenses? If not, do you have enough in savings to cover the difference for the first few months of your WAHM business?

If not, consider working a few more months while putting as much as possible in the bank.

Also consider what kinds of start-up expenses there will be. Some start-up expenses are tax-deductible, but you still have to be able to make the purchases and investments now.

Can you handle it?

Working at home may be more challenging than you might anticipate.

While the idea of working at home does sound like a dream come true, the reality is that it’s much harder for some, especially when there are children to attend to, during business hours.

Think it over before you jump in but if you are even considering it, you are already many steps ahead.
