Could I make a request for my historical fiction kins? My current medias are Band of Brothers, a show about the 506th Infantry Regiment during WWII; The Pacific, a show about several different companies of Marines who fought in the Pacific Theater during WWII; Saving Private Ryan, a fictional story based on true events that takes place in Europe during WWII; Inglourious Basterds, a fictional story inspired by a historical group who fought in Europe during WWII; Fury, a fictional story about a tank crew that takes place in Europe during WWII; and The Monuments Men, a fictional story based on true events that happened in Europe during WWII

I'm always conflicted about these kinds of things honestly, because it's hard to come up with a definitive answer, so maybe as someone with more experience with the media, you could help us with figuring out how we should go about it? (As well as any other viewers of our blog who wants to share their two cents on the matter, as it's certainly something we've been trying to figure out where we stand on for a while now.)

In the past we've rejected requests from media that closely follows real world events; specifically a request from Colonel William Tavington from The Patriot is what we have denied so far. For that one we came to the conclusion that the setting and character were too close to real life, and said character also was on the "super evil wiki" upon going down a rabbit hole. It made me pretty uncomfortable just because of how close to reality it was.

However, we've also accepted certain requests with a historical theme to them such as "Winter Soldier" and "Guts and Blackpowder". Both of those feel a bit more on the fictional side to me? Since Winter Soldier is Marvel super heroes, so even if some of the setting is realistic, it can still be considered solidly fiction due to the superhero aspect. With Guts and Blackpowder, it was a zombie setting, which is also very solidly fiction.

So, I guess my question to everyone; How should we go about these kinds of requests? What should we put into our blacklist/whitelist in order to communicate it succinctly? Maybe its something like it has to have some sort of clearly fictional element such as superheroes or zombies? Or would that be blocking it in too much?
