He thought he was knowledgeable on a variety of subjects, though it seemed the information he knew was failing him now. Merlin had yet to hear of any sort of robots or androids and to think that there were people made from metal? Crazy. Though not insane.
Merlin expected magic but all he was given was ‘science’. In his world there was no such term in existence, at least not yet. Science was a foreign concept which would confuse just about anyone. Magic however, was what had been around for centuries.
“Metal?” the young man asked, clearly bemused as to the use of the material. “The kind you use for swords and axes?” His eyebrows raised in question of her words, still not understanding P-body’s nonsensical world. “If wasting metal on ugly people is more advanced then I’d rather be the way I am.”
Though P-Body may not have meant to hurt Merlin with her words, his positive thoughts of Camelot and the majority Albion would not fade so quickly. If robots were just uglier androids made of precious metal, what good were they? Couldn’t fight now could they?
Bringing up the topic of magic vs. science however, Merlin felt at an odd end. He still didn’t know exactly what science was and was curious as to what the term meant.
“What is that?” he asked with a wary grin. Yet if they were to discuss magic as well, the warlock at least knew what that was. “Magic’s like—you know what miracles are? Or curses?” There wasn’t an easy way to explain just what magic was if you hadn’t heard of it before.
The android nodded as his inquiry about the metal. Was it really such a foreign concept? Surely he should have imagined such a thing, even in such a primitive world such as his. But, if he had never imagined such a thing, then P-body would be glad to inform him on such a thing.
--> Why yes. It's the exact same thing. I can show you one if we ever come across one. <--
Ah, to be teaching someone something new always made the android happy. His next statement though caused her to laugh again. It seemed that he still didn't quite get what it was, but she understood. She would clarify a bit more to make it more clearer.
--> Each one has their purpose. I am built to test. While others are built for combat, manual labor. Such as that. It just depends on what you want. <--
Just like GLaDOS had built her for the purpose of testing, beings such as herself always had different purposes. Like the turrets, they were built to shoot the test subjects in certain test chambers, but she figured that getting into that would only confuse the man even more, so she left it at that.
At the mention of miracles and curses, P-body shook her head. Everything she had learned, she had learned from GLaDOS, and all she talked about was humans and science. Things such as magic, curses and miracles was foreign to her.
--> I apologize, but no, I don't know what that is. Care to specify? <--
