I love how all these reblogs from ableds are like “boxes of paper are 20 pounds GOTCHA” as if every single person in a 60-person workplace needs to be able to lift a box of paper.

“What’s that, James? You tore your rotator cuff? Sorry, we have to let you go. What if the printer needed to be refilled and the other 200 people in this building were home sick? It just wouldn’t be fair.”

I deserve more intellectually challenging low-effort justifications for bigotry. Please try harder next time. 1/10.

Every office I’ve ever worked in that had more than like 10 people, there were folks on staff that it was part of their job to move the paper (and other supplies) around. Which is not to say that no one else in the office ever moved a box of paper or toner, but it was absolutely not part of the job expectations for like 90% of the people working there. And in fact you’d get yelled at if they saw you, because it was a workers comp risk for folks to be lifting heavy stuff without proper training.

To be clear: the point of noting this is to confirm that the 20lb thing has nothing to do with paper in most office environments I’ve been in. It’s BS.
