Epilogue
The next few weeks are ones of great disarray, not only for you, but for the nation of Granthius.
There are a lot of questions. A lot of paperwork. You are not in prison, but you are certainly not yet free.
The first story to have gotten out was of disruption of the Princess Hortenseās cruise. The faces of Idna Fencille and her stepfather are on the front cover of the newspaper for a day⦠Before they are bombarded with accusations due to their affiliation with the Council.
King Ariel had no direct relatives. The crown, then, fell upon the head of Scylla Darlington, the remaining Dutchess. Upon hearing this news, your stomachs fill with dread.
Within the week, she amends the laws discriminating against magic users, and in an official statement, pardons every mage that was arrested, and every family that lost a loved one to the Council. You, too, are pardoned of every offence (even sneaking into her home)...
The kingdom is filled with disrest, whether at her or her parentsā decision, and you feel it will take some time for the dust to settle.
The Osyan Inventorās Guild begs the pardon of one Gafan Chudwell, who is delighted to be welcomed back. Soon, his daughter is the chair of the guild. Elliot is on a steady road to recover from the trauma he endured. Within a month, her newest invention is being produced for the publicā the camera. You are, perhaps, the first people in the world to have a photograph of you and your friends.
Granthius does not know what to do with the technology brought about by the Councilās terrible ways. But you do, Ce. You, with your blueprints and your inherent resourcefulness begin designing other, better things out of those originally born from such pain and hate. Whether for you or for the world, youāre creating technological and arcane breakthroughs.
Juno, a week after the new Queenās amendments, you notice a change in the public. Now, when you perform magic tricks on the streets, people now come and watch, eyes alight with fascination instead of fear. Not too long after the amendments, you receive a letter summoning you to renowned Jazz Club, Blue Harryāsā with an incredible job offer.
Kava, ever since the amendments, you have felt a special pride shine within you. A pride that is⦠Not all yours. Helm is with you, heās always been with you, and he is so proud. Youāve protected not only your children, but many generations of them that would have been crushed under war and hate. The knights welcome you in their circles now, especially a certain one. But, true to yourself, you become restless after being in one place for too long.
Temerity, there is a moment after it all that you see yourself returning to a life alone in Ashmire. But you know now, you know, that there are people around who do truly love you. Itās hard to adjust to at first, and perhaps youāll never get truly used to it⦠You do still return to Ashmire, from time to time again. You make sure to stop by the children on the streets and find ways to help them. Because once upon a time, someone did the same for you.
Van, you have never been happier to be home. Your friends visit you often, in Goldenfield, working on the farm where winter is short and spring comes quick. Nothing makes you happier than a field all to you and your pals, gazing over the fruits of your laborā and snacking on them, too.
No matter where you are in Granthius, how content you may be⦠Sometimes, at night, something stirs within you. Something much too big for Goldenfield, for Ashmire, or even for Osya.
Itās been a very strange year.
Perhaps, it is laughable to think that youāll be living anything than a very strange life.
Itās been a wonderful year of crazy emotions, wild ideas, and one great adventure. I couldnāt have asked for a better party. The biggest thanks to @sarcasticskeptic @deathishauntedbyhumans @mushygreens @dennibunĀ
