Chapter Summary:

“Speaking of Matt’s missed gifts…” Her whole body freezes when he pulls out a long-stemmed rose and an envelope from the side pocket of his bag, “Found these on the doorstep on my way in. Although I am slightly hurt neither of you mentioned you were doing this romance again.”

Foggy offers them both out of her with a smile whilst Karen’s stomach churns. She makes no move to take them, her chest squeezing painfully.

Her eyes drift to the window behind Foggy’s head, the blinds letting slats of light through that beam onto the floor in sharp lines. The framed napkin seems to mock her, Foggy’s handwriting so at odds with the way her name is written on the envelope he is holding out to her.

“Karen?” He asks, taking a step forward.

She shakes her head, shaky fingers reaching out to take the rose and the note from him, “They aren’t from Matt.”

the thing i love most about karedevil is that they're literally two sides of the same coin and i feel like people never talk about it???

like both of them had to grow up WAY too fast. matt was literally a blind kid stitching jack up after fights. karen was basically trying to keep her family together after her mom passed , helping with the diner, carrying way more than she ever should've. neither of them really got to just... be kids.

and then the guilt. because that's literally what defines both of them.

jack dies trying to make matt proud. kevin dies protecting karen. both of them have this one moment where their entire lives split into a before and after and they've been carrying that ever since.

and can we PLEASE stop acting like fisk is only matt's villain because i'm sorry?? he is just as much karen's.

union allied. ben urich. mrs. cardenas. wesley. throwing her in prison and trying to have her killed in there. the nightmares she was still having YEARS later. she wanted him gone just as much as matt did. s3 makes that so painfully obvious.

and now BAs2 has me looking at them like... okay fisk's gone. now what 😭 because they have spent YEARS making him the center of their lives. they don't know how to stop fighting.

idk they're just so... together. like narratively. they're always carrying the same thing just in different ways.

A large hand settles on her knee, the warmth spreading through her leg.

“I hear you. But if you really think the mess of us is going to stop me from caring about you, protecting you, then you really don’t understand my feelings for you at all.”

When Karen finds herself with a stalker, she is determined to handle it alone and not involve Matt at all. For the sake of their complicated friendship. But when Matt finds out, he has other ideas. Because if there is one thing he knows, it's that he isn't about to let anyone harm Karen Page. As the threat to Karen's safety grows, they both struggle with their unspoken feelings for each other which get harder to ignore. And maybe, they don't actually want to ignore them anymore.

IT IS HERE! THE STALKER EPIC HAS LANDED! Hope my Karedevil lovers don't mind a long fic (it's all written and ready to go so I promise the updates will be consistent!)
