I've got 22 chapters (just over 80 paperback pages) up on the website right now!
He’s a prince, her best friend’s ex-boyfriend… and her fiancé.
Evie is marrying the heir to the French throne in the wedding of the century. She should be delighted with her arranged engagement and unexpected pregnancy.
Prince Julien seems like the perfect gentleman. He’s gorgeous. Sends her flowers weekly. Remembers things nobody else has learned about her, like her favorite dessert. But it’s all fake, meant to convince the public Evie is the woman of his dreams.
In reality, he’s cold, commanding, and won’t let anyone – even his bride – stand between him and the crown. And he’s madly in love with her best friend.
Evie is determined to win him over.
She just has to survive ruthless court gossip, endless press scrutiny, and the royal family’s dysfunction.
And once he’s hers, she’ll never let him go.
Princess Imperial is an angsty slow burn slice-of-life romance with no cheating and a guaranteed happy ending.
More below the cut:
I'm posting early access to each book in the Princess Imperial series on my website for free.
I'll still be publishing the books in ebook and paperback, and enrolling them in Kindle Unlimited.
I have the first three story arcs plotted out and can't wait to share then with you! Assuming all goes according to plan, all three of these arcs (plus part of the fourth) will be published on my website before I launch book one.

The next really big event on the blog is Evie and Julien's wedding.
I'm currently posting events about 10 days after they canonically occurred, so you can expect wedding posts in mid-June.
I am so, so, so happy with this story and so grateful for your support and cheerleading over the last year.
Here are just a few of you whose support means more than you could possibly know: @pocket-size-cthulhu @amaliaofnassau @cambridgemadness @outintothevoid
At the end of last year, I was very seriously considering walking away from writing altogether thanks to the demands of my day job. I genuinely don't know that I would have revamped, well, anything without folks pestering me about these characters and their story. I couldn't do this without you. ❤️❤️❤️
Official Portraits of Crown Prince Hussein & Princess Rajwa of Jordan, released to the Jordan News Agency and ET bel Arabi on the occasion of their third wedding anniversary in 2026
In which Julien helps his seven-year-old sister with her homework, said sister taunts Evie about knowing one of Julien's secrets, Evie suffers through a white tie banquet, and then discovers her primary lady-in-waiting is up to shenanigans.
This post also features what might be my favorite Evie outfit of all time.
I don’t want to be mean but Kate is very much not busy with work lmao
There's a reason why I included family and hobbies in that sentence! 😂
Having said that, I think it's likely that she does a fair bit of behind-the-scenes work prepping for events. But that doesn't get measured in end of year stats because it's hard to quantify and isn't seen by the public.
I would LOVE to see her do more public-facing work and strongly believe she needs to increase her engagement counts (as does William). But I do think we need to remember that, while public-facing work should be their professional priority, it's not all the work they do.
I also think that they should find a way to share proof of their behind the scenes work with the public, though I understand that's difficult to do while preserving the security of their office space.
The skirt Kate wore in Italy was also from a brand that Meghan has worn after moving back to California, and tbh since it wasn’t exactly a very special skirt I thought it was a bit… sloppy? Talking about people “owning” brands is silly, and it just a skirt, but I found it interesting why she’d even go there. But it does make me wonder if she’s got a new stylist/dresser and why these brands?
I haven't seen any news about her hiring a stylist after her longtime one left, but it's entirely possible that she has and they haven't been announced, or that she's styling herself.
I personally think she's styling herself because she keeps wearing brown and neutrals, just like she did while dating William, and because she's worn some pieces with the potential for unwanted Meghan comparisons/connections. Kate doesn't have time to figure out all the potential ways her clothes can spark discussion! She's busy with work, family, and hobbies.
The blue at Wimbledon last year was lower I think, the royal variety and bafta as well
this is the first time I've heard of Rodarte, why is it unexpected?
I completely forgot both the blue Wimbledon and the BAFTA looks! Thanks for the reminder. ❤️ I think the blue Wimbledon falls in about the same spot, but it's nice to see her returning to form with v-neck dresses. (And wearing color.)
As for Rodarte - they're an American brand, based out of Los Angeles! Kate does wear American brands on occasion, but usually not if there's significant style overlap with one of her go-to British brands. Rodarte does flirty, frilly, 80s-inspired pieces very well. So does Alessandra Rich, which is a British-based brand Kate has worn a lot of over the last six years. Just about every polka dot dress she's worn this decade is by Alessandra Rich.
The LA piece of it is interesting, too, because Meghan has gravitated to wearing California-based brands over the last six years. Especially brands based in or near LA. Obviously no single person has dibs on wearing a brand, let alone all the brands from an area, but the Sussexes/their fans are so quick to issue stories about royals "stealing" Meghan's style (see: Kate wearing pantsuits or Aquazzura shoes) or extending olive branches to them that the entire royal family has been (somewhat...) careful to limit opportunities to push those narratives. And this one dress could very easily be spun into a narrative.

Evie O'Brien's fiancé, Prince Julien, officially becomes the heir to the French throne.
So of course her best friend - also known as his ex-girlfriend, whom he still loves - is there. And wearing bridal white.
Read Chapter 23 / Start from the Beginning
Evie's maid of honor thinks this is a great time to remind her about the upcoming bachelorette party. Unfortunately for Evie, her maid of honor is seven years old and way too excited about this wedding.
...Yes, I did give the seven year old a Dolce & Gabbana bag.
