She graduated high school, pre-med, and med school younger than most of her peers, but she’s not quite a prodigy on Javadi’s level.
She’s also played softball pretty much her whole life - she played on teams throughout middle school and high school, and though she can’t really be on a team currently because of her work schedule, she’ll still go to watch games whenever she can.
She was diagnosed with ADHD when she was in middle school, but she wasn’t able to get medicated for it until college because no one ever really tried to get meds for her.
She went to the Pittsburgh University School of Medicine and graduated near the top of her class.
Her parents were pretty emotionally neglectful towards Tala and her two sisters, and because of that the three siblings were never really close and Tala doesn’t talk to pretty much anyone in her family now.
Because of this, she basically sees everyone in the Pitt as her family and is constantly putting pressure on herself to try and make sure that everyone is content, if not happy, and getting along. There’s a part of her that’s basically determined not to let this family fall apart the way her own did, and because of this she can get really stressed when people in the Pitt aren’t happy with each other and take it upon herself to be extra bright and funny to bring the mood back up (and sometimes push too hard to get people to make up, which doesn’t usually go over well).
For the last three years, Robby has brought her an iced caramel latte when he stops for coffee before any shifts they have together.
Samira is her absolute bestie, and they often hang out together after shifts and take whatever moments they can get between patients to chat (as a result, Tala definitely goes off at Robby more than once for the way he talks to Samira).
She’s as religious about her skincare as she can be on an ER doctor’s schedule; she doesn’t necessarily have an extensive routine, but she takes it very seriously.
She’s been going to therapy since she first became a proper doctor, and she is not afraid to try and talk to her coworkers about potentially seeing someone to deal with the stresses of their jobs (Samira, Trinity, and Robby especially).
send me 🌟 + an oc and i’ll tell you ten facts about them!!
