Employment for psychology graduates

Hello! I'm (hopefully) graduating with a psychology degree this summer. I have no idea what the next steps are. I wanted to see what direction other psych graduates took or are planning to take. I'm planning to volunteer this summer but I have no other work experience. So what was your first job as a psych graduate with no work experience? Or what is your plan? I have no idea how to move forward. Any advice and experience is welcome.

That fear that you are not worthy enough, even when people say otherwise. That greater fear when you think they will realise you truly are unworthy someday. It's a horrifying feeling.

Panic

A heavy reality The pressure on my chest; Building guilt, Because of invisible struggles.

Expectations set Vision by unique perspectives Leading to the creation of illusion; An ugly, hectic, blurry illusion.

The overwhelming feeling of a fist, Wrapped around my body, Consuming it.

Deep uncontrollable breaths Quiet gasps, pleading to turn loud.

And the panic is without a finish line The foggy cause, Blinded by one need Escape.

Okay I want my characters to have a tragic background so they can be interesting but every time I begin to imagine something horrible happening to them it just hurts like... THOSE ARE MY BABIES.

But it has to be done for the plot I'M SORRY

Debating whether to write a fanfic or start the book I've been meaning to write for the past 2 years. This debate will take the whole day and I'll end up doing nothing. But hey no worries, tomorrow I'll do some more internal debating and will finally decide. Right?....RIGHT?

i get so happy when people that are new to fanfic writing, or just writing in general, post their work on ao3. despite their doubts, despite their fear of something so personal and vulnerable being perceived, they still press that button, and i turn into the equivalent to a proud mom cheering on the sidelines. like yes! you did that! your work is worth seeing! you deserve to share your passion for and be part of a community! i’m so proud of you!

Reading

Those kind of books that burn slowly. That make every single part of your body feel achy. You literally feel pain rushing through your veins and you don't want it to stop. That full feeling in your heart. Overwhelming but not enough. Those extra few breaths you need to take because of your erratic heartbeat. The way peace feels when you close your eyes and replay the written words. That rare real feeling someone that does not even exist can give you. The magic of imagination.
