My new dice from the Cozygamer shop on Etsy came on the mail!!!
These beauties are the Snowy Crystal set but they are for my spunky Circle of the Moon druid named Drexys!
If I was going to put the Horrible Goose in a D&D game, I wouldnât make it some big high-CR threat â itâd just be a regular goose thatâs capable of regular goose stuff, with three significant exceptions:
1. It can show up anywhere, even if thereâs no reasonable way for it to have gotten there.
2. It seems to have limited ontological inertia. If the players imprison it, it vanishes from its prison when theyâre not looking. If they kill it, another goose shows up eventually. Itâd be impossible to prove that itâs always the same goose, save for the third notable traitâŠ
3. âŠnamely, that it doesnât show up in divinations. Like, at all. Predictions donât take it into account. Scrying on its location reveals an empty room. Spells that would detect it or read its mind act like thereâs no valid target present. If the cleric communes with their god and asks about it, their god has no idea what the cleric is talking about. It might take some doing to arrange for the players to become aware of this property, so donât force it â the opportunity will arise!
There we go. No goofy boss monster tricks, yet itâs guaranteed to drive your players nuts â not even by harassing them, necessarily, but just by existing as they try to figure out what it means, particularly once they learn of the third trait discussed above.
Backstory for a character i am VERY excited to play in an upcoming DnD campaign a friend is running
Drexys is a young tiefling circle of the mood druid!
Humans invaded Drexysâ home when she was only 3 years old. She was held and forced to witness the slaughter of her parents and the burning down of her home.
The humans took her to a sort of âholding prisonâ where she would be trained to work until she was old enough to be sold. The cell she was kept in housed several other children, many old than her. The group adopted her into the fold and included her in nightly story telling, which kept her spirits up. She also took solace in being able to see the moon from the shared cage.
Drexys was sold for the first time at five. She went through several owners for the first few years, being forced to do everything from cleaning homes to farmwork and even entertaining.
As she entered adolescence she was sent back and retrained for new purposes and then sold into the sex slave trade. These were by far the hardest years of her life, as she was more abused than in her younger years. She coasted through her teenage years numbing herself to the world around her. Through all the years of her childhood and adolescence, Drexys still sought comfort from the moon and its light.
When she was about 17, she was sold to a particularly cruel master. She realized the other slaves were planning a breakout. The group managed to induce a heart-attack in their master and escape.
The girls stuck together for sometime before splitting off. Drexys ended up falling in as the apprentice of an elderly Druid who taught her about the moon and its power.
