Now that I look back at it, Future!Dean and Cas are so tragic. Like imagine being Cas in that situation. You fall for a man because he is the chosen one. But not only for that. You believe that this man is the most human out of all. He cry’s, laughs, and bleeds. He has such a big heart and is determined to protect the one he cares for, no matter what happens to him. You betray your home and everything you know and love for this one man. You believe in this man so much. And you love him so much.

But while fighting for the greater good, the mans brother dies. The one thing he has known his whole life, dying by your brothers hand. Then you have to watch that man that you believe in so much, disappear. His once big heart, full of love and selflessness, turn into stone. You have to watch him turn into a husk of what he once used to be. The only thing driving him is hatred and revenge. Nothing more. Nothing less.

And I believe that’s why Future!Cas was so happy to see past Dean. That’s was the Dean he knew and loved. The one he fought and bleed for. The one he believed in. His Dean.
