{{⚔}}— He wasn't usually one to go to parties, or really anything close to the sort. Tonight however he'd made the exception, and to be quite honest? He was a bit excited, It'd been forever since Aidan had gone out for anything other than his pursuit of art, and work. He wasn't much of a drinker, but this was yet another thing he could make an exception for. Still even as he got to the party (a bit late but hey, fashionably so right?) he hardly conversed and found himself sitting off to the side, beer in hand. Maybe he could make an exception for conversation too? "So the party seems to still be going, guess that's a good thing—I got here a bit late." The young man laughs, he hopes yet another exception to his usual self was worth while.

It was an often, familiar felt occurrence that brought the young man to wade around by the harbor, sitting at the edge of the docks  Indian style, with sketch book in his lap, pencil in hand. He loved it here, and anyone in town that even knew him slightly could tell you that. Often he felt the water, was a great source of both inspiration and comfort on these late nights. The night air combined with the sea breeze, made him feel like he was at home, something he never quite grasped or understood-but he was fine with never knowing why; chalking it up to just being one of his many quirks. His body for once relaxed and less ridged, his shoulders not so tense with the strain of whatever invisible weight was on them, and his heart felt ten times less heavy too. Yes there was indeed something comforting about the sea, it was almost a pity now that about two hours out here and after his shift at work later-he knew he should head home. Aidan heaved his tall body upwards, recalling how small he used to be as a child, gangly too-less so much now, something he was a bit grateful for. People tended to take him more seriously than his younger years. Years that had not been so kind to him, but that was neither here nor there anymore. He was however never so graceful on his feet ever since his body got more mass and muscle to it however, and as he stumbles to catch his falling sketchbook, there’s a look of both horror and fear written on the mans face. Aidan can’t loose it, he just can’t, sure he’s got a ton more back at his apartment but to be fair he had a bit of sentimental value to all of them. Each holding a different dream he tried to sketch out that day, each being another key he felt the remembering something-something that he felt he lost. What that was or if he even lost anything at all he wasn’t sure of course, but at the very least this was a comfort of his. So there was no way he was losing that notebook, even if it meant he’d end up in the water. Sadly enough that’s just what happened. He quickly realized something about himself, but it wasn’t from his dreams or sketches Aidan realized- he couldn’t swim. As the freezing cold waters of Maine seemed to swallow him up, he fought to grasp at the dock, his hand soaked however slipped off of it in his frantic motion. He could feel the icey water seeping into his lungs, the disgusting and bitter taste of salt water poisoning his mouth. It tasted like death, as dramatic as that sounded, if Aidan could have actually managed to say something that’s what he would have said. Death wasn’t sweet, and as the young man struggled it was brief at best, before the cold chilled his bones and he felt like his whole body was locking up, like he was drifting slowly into a less painful sleep. Because living right now seemed to hurt so much more, that twisting feeling in his chest, the aching throb in his head- he was suffocating and there was nothing he could do. Everything went dark, and his last thought isn’t even anything great like the books he’s read. Something along the lines of 'my life didn't even flash before my eyes yet.' so really the books apparently lied altogether. because he hadn’t thought of anything more than the struggle and how cold it was. Just what was he fighting for his life for anyway? It wasn’t as if anyone would miss him. The town would forget about him, as it did with everything in time, oh so the coffee boy isn’t there anymore-well there would be a new one in time. One thing time couldn’t do now however was wash away this terribly lonely feeling he got as he was slowly going under.

What is this noise I hear? Is it someone crying for help? Is it the cries of the damned souls of hell? NO. It’s the sound of the most epic party to ever take place in the quiet town of Storybrooke, Maine. And everyone’s invited.

• “No but really, what’s this shit about?” Some weird people (including me and a few other psychopaths), decided that this town needed a massive shake up, “Animal House” style – what better way than a plain old party, with rivers of beer, red cups and loud rock music?

• “Okay, but how do I join?! “…Simply joining? The party will start tomorrow, Friday 9/20, at 9 pm (GMT+1) – a starter will be posted precisely at 9 pm, and from that moment on anyone can join simply replying / posting something tagged “storybrookepartynight” (it can be a thread starter, a drabble, an open chat, ANYTHING, even what your character’s going to wear – though we highly recommend casual clothes). The party will ‘officially’ last for 24 hours, but of course, your threads can go on for however long you want .

• “But, like, can I join even if I’m a three-headed monster with a rhinitis?” Of course you can! EVERYONE, FROM ANY FANDOM, is welcome to the party, as long as they’re human – we don’t want supernatural drama, okay? Everybody wants to have fun! PLUS- you can join at any time, even when the party’s already started!

• CHARACTER DUPLICATES ARE WELCOME. We don’t want to put any restrictions, it will be almost as if fairytale land never existed – it will solely involve our characters’ Storybrooke counterparts, given that there will be people from other fandoms too. – BUT PLEASE NO OOC DRAMA. If you’re pissed because you want to be the only one portraying that character, you can just ignore this and not join at all.

• GOLDEN RULE: Given the setting (a place where drunken people have no inhibitions whatsoever) ANYONE can break in ANYONE’S THREAD/CONVO/WHATEVER at ANY TIME – 1. Don’t be upset if that happens in your thread – it’s a way to meet new people and make everything more fun. 2. Don’t be shy AND intrude other people’s threads! Just unleash your muse’s drunk personality and let them wander free.

• Smut/NSFW is likely to happen – if you’re not comfortable with that, DON’T JOIN. We don’t ask for anyone to rp smut, but just accept that it might occur, as well as some triggers, and probably swearing, so DON’T BE UPSET if you stumble into something you’re not comfortable with, just scroll past and ignore it, okay?

• That being said, it’s not like you can go and fill your posts with smut and swearing and all of that. PLEASE PUT YOUR SMUT UNDER A READ MORE, when it’s heavy (i.e. when both  characters are already naked), and you’re allowed to swear, just don’t overdo it.

As he surveyed the room, Rumplestiltskin’s eyes landed on one person in particular and he paused in surprise.  That was the last person he had expected he would see.  But he would recognize him anyway.  Among the other people attending the ball stood his son.

Bae had fallen through the portal, was in the world without magic, not the Enchanted Forset, and travel between those two worlds was nearly impossible.  So Rumple wasn’t sure how it was possible that his son was here, at Prince Charming’s ball.

After staring at him for a minute, Rumple knew that he had to talk to him.  He wasn’t sure whether Bae would be happy to see him.  Their parting had been difficult, and he’d made the worst mistake he’d ever made when he’d let his son fall through the portal without him.  But he’d been searching for Bae ever since then, and now that the chance was there, he needed to find a way to make up for what he’d done.

And so Rumple walked towards Bae, stopping a short distance from him and not taking his eyes off of him.  ”Bae.”

Almost out of instinct he replies "Papa-" like a child still he must seem to the man, not only in looks but apparently words too. He bites his tongue quickly afterwards, he's not sure if he's upset with himself or just upset period. This was a bad idea, but he couldn't leave now he's sure even if everything in him is screaming to. Bae looks away, hazel eyes downcast to the ground, and if he could glare holes into his boots and the floor right now he surely would. "I didn't expect you to be here..." His comment holds a tone of resentment, or perhaps just more pain that he's trying to mask, but he doesn't do a well enough job of hiding his emotions for once. Emotions that slowly where getting the better of him, just why would the prince allow The Dark One here. Was this some trick devised by his father to get him to come? He had been foolish, he had been stupid-he should of stayed back on the ship with the crew. It had always been safest there, at least in terms of his heart. "Was...was this all some sort of...of trick...to get me here?" The man finally looks up, and for the quickest of seconds tears had threatened to well up in his eyes. But he bites it back down, anger flashing quickly instead. All the time he'd spent trying to stay away from this man who had abandoned him, and now nothing could stop the inevitable confrontation.

If you ever asked Chris, he’d be all too happy to explain with a grin and a laugh that no, he’d never been to sea. He’d never had that sailor of an uncle who took him out on the water, never been on a cruise, hell, he’d never been fishing. But he liked the sea. Not for the sense of legend or the endless possibilities or the feel of power beneath the keel of a craft, but because it calmed him. He’d always been one to grin and bear it, as far back as he could remember, but even in those odd moments, few and far between, when his patience ran so thin you could see the irritation beneath it, showing faintly through the strain in his smile, he could step out, feel that breeze, smell that salt-scent so inherently matched to waves, and settle.

But that wasn’t often. More frequently, it was an inability to sleep. Long nights made longer by the absence of unconsciousness and the lack of company that came with dreams. Hours spent lying awake, staring into the dark of his bedroom, listening to nothing except the occasional murmur of sleepy conversation from the tenants below him. Especially bad were the nights like that facing a full day of work in the mornings, long shifts on short sleep and a shorter temper.

If the sea helped him soothe his ruffled temper, the waves did much the same for whatever rattled nerves chased sleep away. The cook kept a blanket in the locker aboard the Gunn for nights exactly like that. Easy enough to slip down to the docks when his bed wasn’t serving its purpose, to stretch out in the bottom, spine against the inside of the keel that ran stem to stern in a single, unbroken line. Not in the winter, mind; he was sleepless, not foolhardy, not foolish enough to risk hypothermia or death in search of a little shut-eye.

Today, though, it was a bit too early for trying to sleep. Even so, Chris had a skiff down on the water, and that gave him reason to visit the docks occasionally, as it so happened. He was as used to the pockets of hustle and bustle as he was to the flow of tides and patterns of weather that affected how he sailed, but what he wasn’t used to - who, really - was the tall kid sitting there, sketching- was that his craft?

It was. He knew the furled sail and weather-marks etched permanently into the hull better than he would ever say (it was probably weird to be so attached to an inanimate object that he’d know that level of detail, right?), and the boy’d gotten them worked onto the paper in smudged charcoal that revealed more than it obscured. “Daaamn.” The word was drawled out, vowel extended near enough to the breaking point. “That’s impressive.” In hindsight, the unsolicited comment might have been a bit odd. But in the moment, it had made sense.

He wasn’t expecting any sort of company, honestly company wasn’t something he delved into usually. Not because he was antisocial, hardly from that really, but mostly because even with the smile he so often had on his face (one that looked a bit lost more an happy to be fair) he still never found it in himself to ever really fully trust anyone. At least enough to warrant their company beyond talking to people at work, and that of course was more him being polite more than anything. Either way he was so enveloped in his sketching that he hadn’t noticed the other man approach him, at least until he spoke. Once those drawled out words hit his ears he almost found himself jolting up, but managed to refrain himself at the last second. Sort of turning his head to the side, and gripping the pencil a bit tighter, the young mans face still the same expression he always had; caught halfway between indifference and feeling a smile tugging at the edges of his lips. “Oh-” He fumbled for words briefly, he hadn’t seen this man before-had he? No of course he’d seen him, around town vaguely the more he’d thought back to it, but Aidan knew that hardly counted to anything substantial. Hell he didn‘t even know the other mans name, but then again Aidan had never been good with names unless he placed them on your coffee cup. “Thank you, really you’re too kind.” A shaky laugh slips past him, usually his sketch book held a bit more privacy, well really he just never showed off what was in there. In this case it turned out to be more welcome than he’d have expected. Wendy, his adoptive sister used to tell him change was good. He remembers thinking how change had never been good to him, but he never voiced that, never wanting to upset her. “It’s of that nice skiff over there, I..uh, like to come out here and draw sometimes after work, it caught my eye this time.” Jesus Aidan, he didn’t ask for you’re whole life story, he inwardly chides himself. “Out here for your own boat, or just on a stroll?” He tilts is head curiously, still looking up at the other man. Quickly feeling a bit like he might have over stepped his bounds with the polite stranger, but he tries to ignore the nagging thought that he might be. He had hardly found the comment from the man odd after all, and was more or less running off his own assumption that if he’d started a conversation with him...sort of anyway. That he hadn’t in fact over stepped his bounds. Boy the more Aidan got to thinking to himself, he realized it really had been some time since he socialized outside of work, he was a lot worse at this than he remembered. But hey brighter side of things, being a ace at conversation had to be like riding a bike right? That how to of it, never really went away; or so he hoped.

Of Salt & Iron| |Bae & Christopher

They often said Pirates were born of salt, and of iron. But Baelfire hadn't been born of it; he'd been reborn. That they walked a world filled with both the land and sea, and nothing short of adventure coursed through them. That their lungs were coated thick in the sea sea air, and their hearts held by Neptune and Mother Nature; clearly because ruled the ocean in both cruel and beautiful ways. The only songs they'd hear either sirens songs, or drunken crewman's ballads. Everything was dangerous, but they felt so alive, he felt so alive, and never more had Baelfire believed these things than now; because he found his liberty in the comfort of a seafaring life. He was one of them, sold his soul not to the devil but to the Jolly Roger, and often he wonders if that's not but the same things. He decided a long time ago however, that he was perfectly fine with this either way. His love and his alliance now lied with his crew, because this ship was his home, and his family; the only family that had never let him down. So when the sea called and said to jump, he needed to only ask 'how high'. Believing Killian's words had turned out to be the best thing he'd ever done, and not once did he regret staying since then; and it's been such a very, very long time since that day. But now they were out of Neverland, and the man can't help but wonder what's next. He hasn't aged a day, and yet he has, he's been through so much and as if none of that has happened, he looks as though he was still yet a boy. He was out of Neverland, and eventually he'd no long be able to keep that youth, the one comfort Neverland seemed to offer. Still he'd lived more in his years already, than most could ever even dream to. Somehow like the pirate that he'd become though, that wasn't enough. There was so much he wanted to do, so much he wanted to see. Nothing would stop him, he thought, he'd be as youthful as ever as long as he found a reason to stay that way, more excitement more adventure. If Neverland had taught him one thing it was that he should always keep going, always keep surviving and not just surviving but actually honest to the gods, living. Yes for once in his life Baelfire had realized he'd really been living, and that was worth more than anything to him. So there he sat, hanging around the harbor, a few of the crew members mucking about with him while they waited for Killian to get back with the rest of the crew. They'd supposedly only stopped here for a day-tops, but somehow Baelfire was starting to doubt that now. Caught between telling their men to get ready to stay a night in this city, but also caught between wondering where Killian had ran off to, and wanting a bit of adventure himself right then. He wasn't worried, hardly so as his Captain always came back, but he was restless. He stays put looking out towards where more people were, some eyes on him and the crew; curious locals no doubt. But most tried to ignore them, and the obviousness of it being a pirate ship; no doubt word traveled fast though.

Killian didn’t expect he’d be so happy when Bae liked the room. That space had been practically unlived in for years and just the thought of having someone there, more so, Baelfire, made Killian’s chest swell with warmth and hope. Finally, this house will feel like a family lives here.  

“I did,” Killian said, when asked if he was the one who planted the tree, “a couple of years back, when I first moved in.” He looks down at Baelfire – the bright rays of the sun illuminating his face, unmasking brown freckles on pale white skin, and making his hazel eyes shine – he was truly beautiful – and Killian couldn’t help stare back in awe. He looked just like Milah, yet not quite. There was something distinctly endearing about him.

“They do look ready for the picking, don’t they?” Killian said looking back down at the apple tree in the backyard. “You can do the honors.” Killian rests a hand lightly on Bae’s shoulders. “But first, get yourself some rest,” he said, “you’ve had a long day.” He gives the young man a smile. It was a warm smile yet one that also showed signs of the man’s own exhaustion. Killian walks over to the door and motions to leave. “I will see you at dinner,” he said. And with that, he goes out and closes the door after him.

Maybe, Bae thought, that perhaps with hims staying here the other man might be a bit happier too, as if somehow sharing whatever pain they both felt would help, as if being in a house that seemed nothing short of lonely before but not anymore, it would be better for the both of them. But most of his attention for now was honestly focused on the fact, that this was still all quite a lot to take in, but at least today hadn’t been as much of a blur compared to the last couple of days. “Wow well it looks really nice.” He mumbles looking back outside, really unsure of what else to say, although he does perk up once more when Killian tells him he has the honor of picking the apples. He’s never done really anything like that before, it sounds more refreshing than anything else he could think of doing.  Plus he does admittedly love apples, not that the priest knew that, but he’d find out soon enough. He never had much of a sweet tooth anyway, beyond cotton candy here and there, and funnel cake-he had that at a fair once, when his father was too worried for him to let him ride the rides; offering him that as penance. Why did all of his thoughts, his memories have to revert back to something sad? Yeah he was ready to make some new ones, like picking apples! But first Killian was right, rest sounded better than good. “Really? Oh man awesome...uh yeah, rest sounds like a plan.” The boy looks at the hand on his shoulder, but he doesn’t flinch or anything this time like he had the first time the older man placed a hand there. This time he just gives this soft, sort of sad smile before going over to his bags as the man goes to leave. “See you then...” In a strange way, he almost didn’t want to see him leave, but that was weird and needy, and he’d just met him so clearly he shouldn’t feel that way. He wasn’t a child, right? At least he felt he had a right not to be a considered a child now, with everything that had happened. Still because of everything that happened the thought of being alone even for a second was almost scarier than everything he’d been through. What Bae didn’t realize is that he had yet to really process it all, cope with it all; because if he had he’d of known that really he was indeed just scared deep down all around. He could put on a excellent brave face, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t shaking on the inside. Eventually he finds that unpacking was less of a rest, but it didn’t take him very long, so he spent most of his time getting adjusted and laying around in the bed. He wasn’t able to sleep, but he didn’t think he’d be able to, actually he’d hardly slept the past few days, being awoken by nightmares, only to tell himself he hadn’t had them in the first place, that he was alright. He wasn’t, but he believed it enough to usually go to sleep for a few more hours the next day. He fidgets around in the bed, practally anticipating being called down, or just something, the sun setting finally and out of sight of his window.

Carry On My Wayward Son| |Bae & Milah

He'd left his father, no actually he hadn't left his father, his father had long since been gone-now it was The Dark One left in his place. It was borderline terrifying to see the man like that, a man he once so loved, a man that when he was a younger boy could do no wrong. But he had left him, he had too. You see his father gave him no other choice, his father wasn't going to go to another world with him; and thankfully Baelfire hadn't been naive enough to believe such a bold faced lie when he brought it up. His father wouldn't go with him, simply because his father wasn't there anymore, and honestly Bae realized that he hadn't been for a long time. It wasn't so much that he was running away now, though he admittedly was a bit scared both of and for his father. But it hurt to much to watch the magic take hold of the man, consume him, and he could no longer stand to be a witness to that, for now anyway. He would need a better course of action to free the man from it all, and he really did mean to find that better course of action-but for now he had no better idea than to leave and pray to the gods the man didn't find him till he did. He supposed that's what brought him all the way out to this far, to what felt like the edge of the world, and so very far away from his father. Bae also supposed that he was starveing too, and after manageing to scrounge (though it was a lot more steal shamefully) some money he finds himself walking into the closest town, and away where he stole got the money from in the first place. 'Just a few more steps ahead, there's a place it looks like where you can get food, just carry on, don't stop now; you can rest after.' Baelfires thoughts drift to how tired he is, caught between feeling so weak from all his running, and exhaustion, but mostly he's just so hungry it's catching up to him. This isn't living anymore, this is surviving. His strong, he's brave (despite the fact his mind keeps echoing that he ran away), and he's got to keep moving or else his father could catch up- no the dark one, it's the dark one he's running from not his father. He's not a coward, he tells himself. He just needs to get away, he just needs to clear his head and eat something, rest and then he can look for something to stop his father from being the monster he is. Except his feet have stopped moving, and he finds himself falling over, in an exhausted heap. 'No, no, no' The boys thoughts scream, but he's so tired, so very tired and he's been at all this walking and going; never stopping for days now. He tries to get up but his body feels so much better now that it's down, now that he can rest, and he finds that his fatigue had caught up to him. Baelfire manages to move just enough to push himself up against a building, a few people stare but none bother to help him. He doesn't blame them though, perhaps they could just see the cowardice oozing off of him-like some magical aura that only his family could have. He doesn't blame them, he mostly just blames himself.

Prince Charming’s Ball. There wasn’t really any reason for Rumple to be there. He doubted that there was anyone there who actually wanted him to attend.  But he’d decided to come anyway, if only to enjoy the reactions of people who were afraid of him.

As always, Rumplestiltskin liked to make an memorable appearance, and so he didn’t walk up to the castle like most people were doing.  Instead, he simply transported himself inside, right into the ballroom, arriving in the usual cloud of purple smoke.  As the smoke around him cleared, he surveyed the room, taking in everyone who had arrived so far.

Surprisingly enough the pirate had gotten an invite, or perhaps it had been meant for someone else? Either way he'd decided to take up the offer, it was a rather nice offer after all, and since when had he actually been off of the ship anyway? He couldn't remember, and clearly that meant too long indeed. All clad in his best, that he clearly never found the need to wear until now, he finds himself idling around the ball, not quite finding a place to converse. Really Baelfire hadn't ever been good at it, at least not when it didn't count for his survival. In those cases he got good with the conversation; and fast. He also found it easiest to converse with the crew on the ship, or Killian oddly enough. But it had been so long since he'd really talked to anyone outside of the Jolly Roger, and now it would seem he actually realized that. For a brief moment he almost thinks of heading back, that this was all a waste and not a place for a pirate, and surely not a place for him. There wasn't a lot of places for him really now was there? He thinks. But then his eyes spot something, a cloud of purple smoke; not unusual considering the perpetuity for magic around here. Of course then his eyes narrow, and his fast twists between a mixture of both horror and sadness, utter and sheer pain, leaning towards heartbreak. Baelfire see's his father.
