I’ve been OBSESSED with @lancey-lance-963 ‘s Creature!Dennis AU. Like obsessed. I can’t get it out of my head. There’s a song called “Leave Luanne” from 35MM the musical, and I feel like it’s SOOOO DENNIS CODED. (Dennis = Luanne) I’m going crazy. Obviously I don’t know how he died bc it’s only been hinted to, but I can see this so clearly 😭 SOMEONE PLEASE AGREE WITH ME IM GOING INSANE

Oh I love that song and I absolutely agree. Especially Katie Thompson's version just fits him perfectly. I'm imaging Dennis as Luanne who became a creature after some kind of failed arranged marriage forced by his family. Maybe they were in a cult and he just never got out, and now he’s stuck out there in this place he never escaped from, echoing the screams of the people who trapped him there (he got his revenge as is his RIGHT). Of course sweet Dennis attached himself to these men who would clearly treat him much better than his bastard of an ex husband.
OK so like, absolutely no hate to the age gap ships in the Hatosy-verse I SWEAR. I too want to climb that man like a gorgeous, freckled, silver-leafed tree and I WILL read every version of that happening.

I also just watched The Faculty and Stan was the cutest patootie I’ve ever seen and I want to watch Dennis make out crazy style with him in every universe OKAY??? So here’s my list of scenarios for all (younger) versions of Shawn I’ve seen:
- Jack Abbott and Dennis as med students at the same time (A couple years age diff because Shawn will never be younger than Dennis EVER). Basic, but study dates and college parties are adorable so SHUT UP. Imagine Denny, fresh off of changing his major and still trying to gain confidence in his choice to be a doctor. In comes cocky as fuck Jack, helping this kid out, noticing he’s SO smart, and also wanting to see what those farm boy muscles feel like 🫢
- Similar to the one above, except they meet when Dennis is an MS on rotation in the ER and Jack is a Resident. Similar vibes but less HR nightmare-y than Jack being an attending. Trinity is eating this UP and is scheming with Ellis to make it happen (I’m sorry but I can’t like Garcia, for her, and in general🤷♀️)
- I’ve already written a post about my favorite “younger Pope and Dennis meet” idea, but another one!! Dennis maybe going on some kind of church mission trip out to Cali and meeting Pope when he was in his religious era. He sees Dennis as his angel for a bit, and Dennis meets this sweet, if a little too intense guy who might actually be into him too for once. They need a bit of time to resolve the misunderstanding because they’re still awkward teens, but NOT TOO LONG cuz I hate miscommunication tropes. Dennis is almost 18 so hey, maybe he skips the whole theology thing and secretly applies to school for pre med in Cali (or somewhere else because Pope deserves to leave S**** at some point)
- I actually love Stan and Stokely together so this would be more of an au than a crossover. “Stan” (since I actually replace him with Jack in my head 👉👈) quits the football team and decides to focus on school more, but Delilah was unfortunately right about studying not being his thing (fuck her though, still really dislike her). One of his teachers suggests he gets tutoring from Dennis, the quiet farm boy who’s surprisingly great at biology, and they hit it off. More study dates and subtle flirting from Stan once he realizes he only dated Delilah because it was expected of him. They go to college together and skip off into the sunset and blah blah. Idk, I didn’t think this one through much. Also, Stokely IS BI and kisses Marybeth because I actually loved her before the giant evil parasite thing :)
-I read an amazing xreader fic inspired by Shawn’s character in another movie but I can’t remember his name in it or what it was called😭 just know it was college related and Shawn was in a backwards baseball cap. Do with that what you will, but they went to the beach for the first time and it was set in New York, and I ALWAYS replace reader with another character so Dennis had an amazing time. I personally imagined significantly less pining and self-sabotaging so… yeah
Is anyone out there still performing the original off-broadway version of Hadestown?? It’s always been my favorite musical (ALL versions) but I can’t help but listen to the live recording of Epic II and mourn that I will probably never get to see it in person.🥺
Why is it that every time I read a fic where Severus deigns to wear some color, it’s green or red?? Put that man in some dark blue!!! I think it would look really nice on him. It’s such a calming color that says elegant but not vampire or school spirit.
It makes me kinda sad when the characters in a ship are older than 30 when they meet because I want them to have infinite time together, so what if Pope and Dennis meet as teenagers? 👀
Maybe Pope ends up getting caught for some stupid crime or gets taken from Smurf for a while. The judge decides he can either go to juvie (or a group home depending on the scenario), or do manual labor for a few months at a farm. Obviously he chooses the farm and there he meets Dennis. Pope is a little stand-offish and hesitant as usual, but this mousy little boy with big doe eyes and a surprising amount of farm boy strength doesn’t stop being kind to him anyway. He starts volunteering to do the same jobs that Dennis is usually on and notices that no matter how shitty his brothers and classmates are, and how passive his parents are, Dennis always has a smile for pope at the end of the day. Pope would be his biggest protector, and I think Dennis would teach him to hold back and reroute that energy a bit. Though he may enjoy being defended more than he should. Maybe they sneak off after chores to go swimming and look at the fireflies late at night. They talk and have never felt closer to anyone else before (except Julia, but with Baz hanging around, she might start pulling away like Catherine). Dennis can’t remember the last time someone cared so much about him and his feelings. Andrew never had someone who understood his habits and need to keep things in order. They become each other’s first friend and eventually first kisses and first loves. Eventually pope has to go back home to Smurf, but knowing that Dennis is still back on the farm and truly loves him, he tries to avoid doing anything too crazy so he doesn’t get in trouble. He saves up his money from jobs in an account no one knows about for later. Pope got a burner phone so he could keep in contact with his boy, until eventually he’s old enough to disappear from Oceanside for good.
I started watching animal kingdom and unfortunately I am extremely loyal and can only ship popewhit now. I’m doing well, all things considered. (That’s a lie, I keep picking rarepairs and I CANT STOP)

Spoilers ahead. Kinda ~~~
So obviously I was particularly excited about seeing Shawn Hatosy, but once I saw what his character was like my brain immediately started trying to wiggle Dennis into the story. I love the idea of Dennis being brought into this shit show through his pathetic ex husband who didn’t realize that farm boy Denny is MUCH stronger than anyone thought he’d be. He wins of course but SURPRISE!! There’s a whole other game with other families! And here comes Jack Abbot, head of his family, and he sees this cute little (sacrificial) lamb who somehow beat all the wolves trying to hunt him. Cue the marriage loophole (after a little bit of murder, because it’s more fun when there’s more chaos) and to stop the game, Dennis agrees to the marriage! Yay!!! Of course Dennis and Jack live happily ever after and the end. Jack may be a little bit of a psychopath, but those sad blue eyes would have him wrapped around Dennis’s finger in a heart beat. >:)
(I’m sure there’s a way to get Robby in the story too. Considering Le Bail presides over their weddings, it probably doesn’t matter if a married couple marry a third)
I was very happy to see the non-nobility romances this season, and in honor of that, I think someone should write a whole series about Alfie finding love.

I just saw Wicked For Good and as soon as it ended my brain exploded with the thought that Barko would secretly love musicals. 😭 like he would relate to Elphie so much and want to find his own Fiyero.
I just imagine his Meemaw playing the Sound of Music every Christmas and eventually he started watching more. I think he’d be an amazing theater tech kid and I think it’d be so sweet if he also studied stage/film production in a college au (with photography double major cuz my baby is SMART).
