Let’s Sway Again Tonight; Where Can We Go? | Green and Lucille (Fallout AU)
The Mojave Desert is known for a couple things, first you have the Legion. Meanest son’s a bitches this side of the desert, they prided themselves as warriors but ask anyone and they’d tell you that they were nothing more but petty raiders. Luckily the NCR was around to put an end to their misdeeds and protect the proud people of the Mojave, but of course there were folks who were against the NCR. As far as Green was concerned, they were good people, after all they paid good caps for people they wanted dead. And that’s where he found himself: with some poor bastard’s thumb safely packed somewhere in his rucksack and he was well on his way to Camp McCarren and cash out.
Kneeling down before the group of raiders (who all eye her like a piece of Brahmin steak), Lucille finds that she is most ashamed of being captured in the first place. What originally began as a quick “5 minute nap” turned into an hour-long siesta, giving plenty of time for those miscreants to ambush her. It’s terrible, really-- but c’est la vie, such is life in the Mojave Desert. You’re either the predator or the prey; and unless you seek a death that is premature, you’d best hope that you’re the hunter.
As the grains of dirt begin to painfully embed into the skin of her exposed knees-- a terrible day to wear shorts-- Lucille wishes for a distraction, anything to give her the sliver of an opportunity to kill these wicked men. They jest amongst themselves, laughing about the prospect of taking advantage of her in the most indecent ways before ultimately murdering her.
They are no better than the monster who slaughtered her mother and father right before her very eyes. It was an absolute nightmare; him breaking into their Goodsprings home with a group of men who were equipped with top of the line pistols and clad in the finest suits that could only be seen around the New Vegas Strip. The Tops Casino, to be exact-- this information found on the business card that one of the men foolishly dropped when escaping her destroyed home.
Now, they did not kill her parents, but he did-- she doesn’t even know his name, but she’ll never be able to forget that face. The bastard’s oh-so-wicked smile still jolts her awake at night, serving as a constant reminder that she is alone in this cruel world. But it also prompts something else: the need for revenge.
Yes, the idea of revenge is what comforts her tormented soul. If she can just gain vengeance for her lost mother and father, then everything will be alright... when there’s 7 bullets lodged into the base of his skull, when his blood taints her ivory skin... that is when she will discover peace, and lay these vindictive thoughts to rest.
Heavy footsteps (belonging to the leader of the group) make their way toward Lucille; and she has to admit, there is a sense of panic running through her already constricted veins.
But, she’ll be damned if this asshole kills her now.
With a sudden timer placed upon her very life, millions of thoughts begin to flood through Lucille’s mind, what can she do to escape? With her arms bound, she cannot bring Eliana out of her pokéball. Her treasured machete is near, but not in arms reach. There is not enough time to break free from her constraints and lean over to grab the melee weapon. Prayers are fervently sent to whatever “higher being” is up there; Arceus, isn’t it? If It’s willing to listen, then she’ll gladly make time to be thankful more often.
However, before she even has time to blink, a loud gunshot rings through the area, red mist spraying from the leader’s wounded head as he crumples to the ground. In the time it takes for the other members to look for the culprit, Lucille manages to break free from the ties that bound her. Without a second to spare, she grabs the machete and thrusts it into the backs of both men. Blood spatters onto her, but she doesn’t care. They are dead, and she gets to live another day; another day to make it to New Vegas, where the monster resides at The Tops casino.
Breathing heavily, Lucille tries to gather her bearings. She will definitely have to find a shower, or even just a body of water to get the stains out of her clothes. If you walk into any community looking like you just killed someone, you won’t exactly get a “warm welcome” from the residential population.
Interrupting her thoughts is the sound of more footsteps, and she finds herself on guard once more; turning toward the man until they’re both facing each other. Violet eyes narrow in annoyance, what could he possibly want? A reward for saving her? Highly unlikely. She may have been scared of the unpredictability of that situation, but the desire for vengeance is enough to keep her heart beating even in the darkest of times.
Unfazed by the coy smile, Lucille is predominately unimpressed by his smooth tone of voice as it teasingly wraps around her.
“Well… aren’t you an atomic bomb baby? Lucky I came around when I did otherwise you’d be another statistic!”
She scoffs in response. Is she supposed to “swoon” over those oh-so-charming words like any good lady should? Cry out, “My hero!” and be forever in his debt?
Quite the arrogant one. She doesn’t feel the need to correspond with him any longer, but since he did care enough to lend some assistance, she tentatively returns the sentiment. Her petite hand clasps around his for a (fleeting) moment before letting go; should she have left it there any longer, she might have considered how nice his felt.
“Well, Green, I’m sure that it’s a pleasure to meet you and all that jazz. My name is Lucille, but that doesn’t really matter, does it? This wasteland is so vast, I doubt I’ll ever be seeing you again.”
She flashes him a (fake) smile and turns on her heel, beginning to walk in the direction toward the next town. Waving over her shoulder, she calls out, “Thanks for lending a hand, but I think I’ve got it from here.”
Lumiose City had a beautiful park, where everything was kept pristine.
A Luvdisc statue sat in the middle of the park’s fountain, spouting sparkling, clear water onto the pool of water below it. Rows of well-groomed trees rested behind ornate fences. White stones paved the area, forming a large PokeBall for the park. And sculpted, stone benches rounded out the areas around the park.
Black had failed to find a Ground type for his match. And of the Pokemon he had available, two were weak to Electric, and none of them had moves to counter him. His hope rested in a newly-caught Phantump and the bond he had with his other Pokemon.
A light, welcoming breeze flutters through Luvdisc park, dancing gracefully past the freshly cut grass and Sycamore trees as it temporarily relieves the area’s inhabitants from the uncomfortably mild weather of summer. While some trainers relax in the shade, others are splashing around in the playground’s water fountain with their beloved water Pokémon. It is a pleasant day, and the park’s immaculate environment provides the icing on the cake.
Lucille even finds herself smiling as she sits upon her usual bench; the day’s current reading material-- Crime and Punishment, by Dostoyevsky -- in tow. Lithe digits carefully open toward the first page, and it isn’t long before the psychic has her nose in the book, delving into the story line that most people might have considered boring. As Lucille continues reading, Espeon lovingly nestles into the girl’s lap until she’s snug, emitting a satisfied purr.
Visiting the park is always a safe haven from the hectic reality of working for Restaurant Le Wow. Lucille gets to unwind in its peaceful domain-- and although she is perfectly able to do so in her own apartment, the living quarters are just too small, and she feels quite claustrophobic in such a place. She would gladly move if she had the opportunity to do so... but alas, that chance has yet to present itself.
She’s just about finished a good quarter of the book when the sound of footsteps can be heard, rushing toward her, it seems. Espeon jolts awake, pupils dilating until they’re minuscule dots. The feline hisses, but remains in position, staring tiny daggers at the brunette-haired male standing before them. Lucille does not look up from her book, however. If Eliana does not scare away whomever is bothering them, then she'll of course have to interact with this stranger.
Sensing the man’s lingering presence, Lucille peers up from her novel, offering him the most deadpan expression. She can just about feel the determination as it exudes from his very core. Clearly he wants to speak with me, she thinks, violet hues staring blankly into shades of chestnut. But why?
“Hello, mademoiselle. I couldn’t help but notice you from across the water.
As he greets, Espeon’s prudent voice reverberates within Lucille’s mind. Stay away from him! the feline’s wary tone clashes with the boy’s flirtatious timbre, instigating an absolute headache for the young psychic. Her brow furrows, discontent written on her features.
“I see you’re a trainer - are you a Beauty? Because you sure look like one to me.”
Her lips twitch, as if she’s about to smile at such a humorous attempt at flirtation, but they soon become a flat line once more. “Bonjour. I’m... a Psychic, actually-- but... how does that concern the likes of you? Tell me, what is it that you seek? A battle?” Lucille’s gaze is unwavering as she awaits an answer. She mindfully places a slender hand on the top of Eliana’s head, soothing the feline’s annoyance.
The dinner crowd was mostly gone, but Ren was still cleaning up the remnants of their meals. At least he wasn’t in the middle of that mad, feverish rush any longer; things were a little more calm now, to be sure.
Ren still couldn’t believe the sheer volume of people that came to dine in Resturant Le Wow. There were more customers every night than there were people in Ren’s hometown; or, at least, that was how it seemed to him.
Because the fine dining establishment of Restaurant Le Wow is held in high esteem by the vast population of Lumiose City, it attracts many (wealthy) customers on a daily basis. What may account for the restaurant’s popularity is its atmosphere, food, and service, which all come together to provide a pleasant dining experience for those who visit. However, there is also the possibility of spotting Pokémon Champions... and that, of course, entices trainers to come and eat.
While Lucille has grown fairly accustomed to the flux and flow of activity, it hasn’t always been that way.
As she meticulously wipes down the surface of one of the empty tables, she begins to reflect upon the past-- which, is something that is done quite frequently for someone who seeks to erase it.
Four years ago, when she had first begun employment as a waitress, Lucille found the job to be completely overwhelming. There was so much to do in so little time, so many orders to remember and carry out... and, to top it all off, her psychic abilities were sporadic during stressful moments. Whenever she had least expected it, the girl would feel a pulse of energy and then proceed to hear the painfully loud noise of plates crashing on tiled flooring. This would often lead her into trouble with the manager, but with a promise of replacing whatever had been broken, she was let off the hook.
Over time, Lucille was able to settle into a niche of sorts. Living in Lumiose meant housing stability, and if she continued working hard at the restaurant, then she would be able to keep having that. This ultimately meant getting a grip on her telekinesis, and improving her ability to multitask.
{For the most part}, she is now able to get through exceptionally busy work evenings without accidentally ruining tableware.
Glancing down at her wristwatch, she feels a sense of relief knowing that the day is almost over. Carefully loading the cart with dirty plates, she gives the table one final look-over before heading toward the kitchen. Through peripheral vision, she is able to spot the newest waiter--Ren, she believes-- as he caters for the last couple, giving them their plates of dessert. This sets off a twinge of realization; when was the last time she ate? This morning? Probably... she’ll have to make sure to prepare a meal when she gets home. If she forgets, Espeon will probably end up reminding her anyways. She smirks internally at the thought. Eliana is always playing the role of a Mother.
Entering the kitchen, she dutifully begins to wash the dishes. There isn’t that much, considering how the dinner crowd simmers down after the 9 o’clock hour. Humming quietly to herself, Lucille continues until finally, she has washed and dried off every last plate that needs to be handled. Peering through the small kitchen window, she notices Ren beginning to clean off the couple’s table. Boy, does time fly.
Upon exiting the kitchen, Lucille heads for the break room to retrieve her small clutch bag. It isn’t much, unlike the fancy designer bags that Kalosian women often carry. They don each of their purses like it is a trophy, something that others should sought after. But, she could honestly care less. All she needs is something that will house the necessities and that’s what matters the most.
Once Lucille returns to the main dining room, she nods “good bye” to her fellow employees as they head toward the front entrance. It has been a long night, she isn’t going to deny that. Everyone must surely be on their way home to get some much needed rest. Hearing the sound of the manager as he locks up his office, keys jingling in hand, Lucille begins to make her way toward the main door as well.
But, as she nears the entrance, the young psychic can feel the lingering gaze of another. It is then that she realizes the only person who hasn’t left yet is Ren. She is about to keep on walking, because she hardly doubts that he wants to talk with her. Most of the employees only converse with Lucille during the work hours, when it is a necessity to do so. However, the sound of his voice just about catches her off-guard.
“Good night,”
She turns around, violet irises meeting pools of cerulean. He is hesitant, offering a slight wave of hand as a gesture of kindness. Prior to this moment, they have only spoken once or twice, but she can tell that he means well.
“Adieu... Ren. Have a good eve--” Lucille pauses in mid-sentence. Something just isn’t right. Could it be pertaining to him? Her gaze is now inquisitive, silently prodding for answers from the man. It is only a few moments before she can uncover the hidden emotion. Worry, laced ever so skillfully within his friendly disposition.
Normally, she would have brushed this aside and ignored it. But, she feels compelled to keep speaking with him. If she goes home now, Lucille is most certain that her inability to cease this opportunity will nag at her for the rest of the night.
“By any chance... is there something the matter?” Her gaze flutters to the pamphlet laid out before him. Was that a map...?
☛ : What is their typical response to being given orders?
Depending on who is giving them, she will respond accordingly. For example, if she is in a work setting, then orders are carried out efficiently. But, if someone she has just met orders her around, she merely scoffs and ignores their requests.
☤ : Is there anything about their health they are continuously on edge about? Something they disregard?
Her psychic abilities. They are worrying in the sense that she has not gained full control over them (yet). Oftentimes, they lead her into trouble. Lucille also experiences bipolar disorder, and she finds it very upsetting.
✗ : Explain how they portray feelings of hostility or dislike.
Lucille distances herself, keeping quiet about said feelings of hostility or dislike until they (hopefully) dissipate into oblivion. She knows that letting those emotions fester will only bring nothing but harm to the individual in question.
✉ : Do they tend to rely on words or actions more?
It’s a mixture of both, just dependent on the situation at hand. Generally, she’s a reserved individual, but whenever she speaks, it’s usually something important to say.
