as we all know, everyone falls in love once and only once with their one true love the first time, and if they had relationships before that they weren’t real and didn’t love each other, and you can’t love more than one person at once, and your friends and family need to be pushed out of the picture to focus more on your romance, and no one has sex with people they don’t love, and if they did, they’re dirty and they have to have hated it and the sex they have with their one true love after they’re officially together has to be better sex than they ever had before, and no one ever breaks up for any reason other than death, and everyone wants to get married and have kids. aren’t you fucking tired.

in spite of their collaboration for the Ofelia cantata (which I'm willing to believe was brought about by mozart), da ponte and salieri must have tried very, very hard not to work with each other after il ricco, because it looks like their next opera was already Axur in 1788. that's four of the most productive years in their respective career and really quite the grudge.

For the salp, sex is less of an immutable part of their biology and more like a hot potato. In their aggregate stage, these invertebrates attach together in chains. When an female chain has been fertilized by a male chain, each member will give birth an asexual offspring called an oozooid, which can later release tens of thousands of young which will grow up to aggregate together again. In the meantime, after giving birth the original fertilized aggregate salp becomes male, and will seek out a female to mate with.
