looking through my things and i found a souvenir i got when i visited the ghibli museum in japan before covid! film strip bookmarks.... of a headless sophie and howl freaking out after his hair was dyed the wrong colour

one of the interesting things about tosca is that i have seen someone else point that the most popular type of opera in the napoleonic era were RESCUE OPERAS... and tosca is a singer! she would have been in stories about the mc escaping from danger and getting a happy ending! and that's what she was expecting for herself! a happy ending! but alas! she lives in a verismo opera :(

guys i watched the 1978 production of TOSCA... it's so beautiful. i think everyone needs to watch this.

the music is gorgeous.... puccini, you have impressed me. the story is a perfect melodrama, absolutely perfect. i feel for everyone! it takes place in italy, during the napoleonic wars. tosca and her lover cavaradossi get caught up trying to hide a political prisoner. meanwhile, the terrifying chief of police, scarpia, becomes obsessed with her.

it's a perfect tragedy....

okay after two days of experimenting with linux mint on an old computer i'm beginning to have doubts about the people who said "it just works!" bc first of all my regular headphones wouldn't work and then my bluetooth earbuds wouldn't work. i mean i fixed it after a bit of googling but there are so many stories that are like "i installed this on my 85 year old grandma's computer and she loves it!" that i just assumed. i wouldn't have to do any of that

Description: Locket containing miniature portrait and lock of composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791). Portrait done in watercolor and pencil, encased in a metal frame. Accompanying partial note in Italian which ends, “…Al mio amico più fidèle [‘To my most devoted friend’],” with signature. Found in the personal effects of composer Antonio Salieri (1750-1825).

I do really love it when women write graphic and fucked up things. I feel like so often people react to fucked up fiction with “of course a disgusting man would write this 🙄” and it often carries an unspoken (honestly sometimes spoken) message of “a woman’s PURE and DELICATE and FEMININE mind could NEVER think of something this VILE”.
