Why you should watch itâŠ
First, Iâll give you a little low-down of the plot. Freshly broken up with her long-term boyfriend, a music journalist (Rodriguez) recruits her two besties (Snow and Wise) for one last outrageous adventure in New York City before she moves away to San Francisco to move on up in her career. Now weâve got that covered, letâs move on to why you should watch it.
One word: relatable. No matter which situation youâve been in, the dumpee, the dumper, the consoling best friend or the member of the group who is just crazy, thereâll be at least one of these characters who you can totally relate too. This film is definitely one to add to your #GirlfriendCollection because itâs like a breath of fresh air. Watching Someone Great is so refreshing because despite the twists and turns along the way there is always a positive⊠a silver lining.
Sometimes you have to be a little selfish and go after what you want in life. And, of course, that process is made a lot more difficult when youâre tied down in a relationship. Some people are fine with it, they are fine with compromising but by doing so, thereâs the potential for those sacrifice-induced feelings to turn into resentment. Your 20âs and 30âs are for living wild and free.
Someone Great will become your new favourite because youâll also fall in love with the cast. If you thought you recognised the main character, Gina Rodriguez, thatâs because sheâs the star in the telenovela Jane The Virgin. Which is also another amazing rom-com project and if you havenât watched it, you really should.

Jennifer Kaytin Robinson, the writer and director of this film is a genius. Sheâs handed us the perfect thing to watch for those evenings after a long day at work when all weâre after is cheering up and a belly full of laughter. Jennifer, youâre a star.
