Hotel Transylvania by Luei.

To be honest I wasn’t sure to expect about this movie. I was expecting something goofy about a hotel of monsters, and maybe a failing business, something like that. However, I immediately fell in love with young Mavis, and the bantering, amusing relationship with her father: who just so happens to be Dracula himself. After a montage of events depicting Mavis’s childhood, we’re brought to present day - Mavis’s 118th Birthday. 

This day is most important to Mavis because it’s the day she’s finally allowed to check out a human village, something her father has forbidden before now; after all, the whole deal with the pitchforks and such is kind of terrifying. 

But Dad, it’s the 21st century!

The movie definitely shows some of the problems people have with dealing with new technology, and the change of times. It’s full of funny, interesting characters designs, along with some old favorites like Frankenstein and the werewolf. 

I don’t think I say much beyond that without ruining the plot, but I definitely recommend the movie to anyone looking for an animated film with some fun designs and interesting characters - as well as hilarious twists. There were some parts that bothered me a little (the solution to getting to the airport, for one), but I was able to enjoy the film despite.
