I started a whole new blog just for Whale Weekly because I am Perfectly Fine and 100% do not have a problem obsessing and hyperfixating over anything. Also, I didn't want to post as a sideblog and then like and follow as my main blog, I already do that with one sideblog and it super sucks. So, full transparency, this is @midnightmindcave's Moby Dick blog. Please excuse me as I yell and bang cups together about this funny little man who decided to self-medicate with a liberal application of saltwater.
I have read Moby Dick completely once and partially the second time. I am trying to come to Whale Weekly as though it's my first time on the ride. I intend to honor the serialized nature of this project so I generally plan to be spoiler-free, but this novel is almost 200 years old and at some point some things might have to be mentioned.
All or at least most of what I post about the book will be my own bullshit and resemblance to actual academic disquisition will be coincidental because one thing I realized in the decades since college is that it is Okay Fine and Normal to come up with the same ideas about a text as someone else did because that means we both got the author's point.
The author, however, is also very dead.
I don't presume that I'm any kind of actual scholar; this is just fun for me. I've been told that several people on this webbed site have hobbies of different sorts, and writing embarrassingly earnest analysis of various media that I encounter is one of mine.
So that's enough prologue. It's whale time.
