The poor dear. Was the only thought that ran through that twisted mind of his when Leaf managed to say the words in return to his statement, having recovered from the punch by now. A shame that Green was dragging her down with him. It was only a mattered of time before Team Plasma crushed what remained of his childhood friends. In fact, he might even grace them with defeat at his hands, if they continued to involve themselves with his job. Of course, that was if he felt that they were worthy of being taken in by someone of his status.
“Oh? You don’t? You don’t sound so sure of that,” He teased. His lips curling in a smirk as he watched the anger rising in the creature he had once known so well. And all Espeon could do was watch his brother and sister grow to hate the man his trainer had morphed into. His eyes locking the others, as if to say that he wouldn’t hesitate to strike them down if they made the first move. Yet, he didn’t desire to fight with them. Family was family, even when it was staring you down with the intention of killing. However, one’s partner was their world; their everything, and Espeon would bite the bullet for Red at any given moment.
The moment Green’s face flushed was a moment of complete victory to Red. He’d hid hit mark all right, perhaps even with flying colors? And it was oh so satisfying to see the face of his former best friend twist with nothing but sheer anger towards him. Green had always been easy to read, and he certainly was making Red’s job a rather simple one.
Break him. Destroy him. Yes, that’s all he had to do to the other, as well as Leaf. Beat them down until they couldn’t stand against him anymore. Then steal away what remained. They were better off without the silly dreams they still seemed to be clinging to. There was nothing in this world now and the sooner they learned that, the better. At least then they would stop shouting nonsense from their pathetic mouths. Yet, they wouldn’t thank him despite the favor he was doing for them.
With each insult that dripped from his vile lips, he felt it was getting closer and closer to his goal. Fist smacking into the others face when he froze at the words that slipped from Red’s mouth. While the punch hitting its mark wasn’t nearly as satisfying as the look on Green’s face had been when he had mentioned his former friend’s Pokemon, he wasn’t about to trade the sensation for anything in the world. As if years of built up rage and anger at the world had been released with the sound of the collision.
Harsh, crimson irises easily met with Green’s far more lively ones. So, that was it? That was the best his former rival could come up with? “Why, Green, am I starting to get to you?” He mocked, taking a step closer to the other. Oh, he knew he was playing with fire, but that had never stopped him before. “I know everything about them, Green. After all, everything that happens in Kanto gets reported to directly to me.”
It was the last comment that made Red lose it. A laugh slipped from his lips. Team Plasma trash, huh? “That’s the best you can do? Tell me, what reason would this ‘Team Plasma trash’ have to lie to you? Because I honestly can’t think of one.” He didn’t even have to look at Espeon to know how disgusted the Pokemon was with him, but even that wasn’t enough to make him stop. No, he promised he would always protect the creature. No matter who got in his way.
His hand quickly formed another fist, fully prepared to fight back as he expected Green to take his words passively. However, Leaf rushed between them, catching him off guard when she screamed at them to stop. Freezing up for only a brief moment at the sight of her crying before his confidence returned, and his expression hardened once again. She was just as much his enemy as Green was. If she wanted to throw herself into the fray, well, that was fine with him.
“Why? Are you afraid you’ll make a mistake?” He taunted Green. “She’s stronger than you.” He wasn’t going to demand Leaf move aside, but he always wasn’t going to hit her. He mentally cursed her being so damn stubborn. If she would just roll over and join Team Plasma, she could avoid the amount of trouble that remaining with the Resistance was going to cause her. They were both better off in Team Plasma. Fighting against them was pointless, at least in Red’s mind. “Why don’t you both just give up and join Team Plasma? You can’t win.”
