The episode was a snooze fest but I peeked at how Jenny kept this detail from the books and somehow made it more poignant. In the books, Jeremiah and Belly are dinning with John (Belly’s dad) and he says he’ll pay the bill — Jeremiah orders the most expensive thing in the menu and Belly’s livid about it. In the show, Adam orders the most expensive thing in the menu despite Laurel saying she’s paying the bill and Jeremiah follows right in with the same exact order while Conrad decides to order the cheapest plate. Belly herself doesn’t even order a proper dish because of it and Jeremiah is unable to read the room. It’s almost like Jeremiah truly is his father’s son (derogative).

the fact that throughout the season Abby is beggining to purposefully reach out to others that she thinks might be able to understand—Sam who very quickly shuts her down and Press who literally couldn't care less (and don't even get me started on how grateful I am the writers didn't go with that awful prediction that Press would be the one to support Abby)—but then when Ginny and Norah have their cute little intervention/trauma bonding scene with her, she's so quick to do the same thing as Sam and Press. She dismisses her own issues and says Ginny and Norah are being dramatic, and insists that she can stop whenever she wants to. Like she so clearly wants and needs to feel seen and cared for, but when someone offers that to her, Abby finds it hard to take a hold of that and be truly vulnerable because she's still always afraid of being dismissed.

Maxine was done SO DIRTY up until the end of the season. I relate to her and I feel so bad :( "we just grew apart, so what"????????

She just wants to talk about her feelings and communicate, no one can convince me that isn't okay

I love how Max, who usually makes herself the centre of attention whenever she encounters any minor inconvenience is quietly fighting for her life this season. She's being left out, losing friends, taking care of her brother to the best of her abilities, debating whether to tell her parents about Marcus, is straining her relationship with Marcus in the process, in a play with her ex she tried so hard to get over, navigating her relationship with Silver, trying so hard to be a good friend to Ginny through everything and constantly being told 'don't make it about you'. Girl is struggling.
