Introducing: Pitch
Pitch is a black cat. Pitch is perfect. Pitch knows she’s perfect. Pitch will destroy you.
Pitch is the familiar of Quin.
Pitch is a free spirit. She’s an explorer and is often seen around Quin’s neighborhood.
When she’s home she can found sitting on Quin’s lap, or watching over him from the many perches she has.
Magical Type: Nature
Nature magic usually plants and rocks as it’s basis. Witches who have this element as their natural disposition excel apothecary, and plant manipulation.
Because the Nature element is so broad, usually nature witches choose a branch to be their specialization. Some examples are:
Fungal Nature Witch
Arborial Nature Witch
Floral Nature Witch
Aquatical Nature Witch (These usually learn Water elemental magic and use it closely with their Nature Magic. It requires a deep understanding of both magics.)
Magical Type: Death
Probably the scariest magic type there is. Death magic uses the physical body as a source of magic. witches who have this type as their natural disposition tend to learn blood magic.
Blood magic is generally used for summoning creatures from separate planes of existence. It’s a dangerous form of magic that could cost the user their life.
Magical Type: Light
Light magic comes from sources of light. Mostly the sun’s light. Witches with this magical disposition excel with light manipulation. They use light to create illusions, and even with advanced magic create solid structures out of light.
Magical Type: Earth
Earth magic is the most basic type of magic. This magic is the magic that flows from the earth itself. People who are born with this magical disposition usually are experts in tracking, location, and transportation magic.
Non-witches often use this form of magic, by drawing on the Earth’s natural magical force.
Magic in Coven Mist
Magic in Coven Mist is a special thing. Magic is in everything, and everyone. Everybody has the potential for magic.
Some people from certain blood lines are born with a strong disposition for magic. These people are called Witches. Witches are born with a strong magical inclination to a certain element of magic. All elements can be learned with proper study, but a Witch’s natural element will always be what they’re best with.
There are nine elements of magic.
Earth
Air
Water
Fire
Nature
Light
Dark
Life
Death
It takes witches years to learn an elemental magic that is not their natural one. There has never been a case of a witch having more than one natural disposition in magic, but there have been occurrences of witches learning up to two other elemental magics.
Non-witches can use magic, but generally their magical abilities come from the natural magic flowing through the earth itself. They cannot perform major spells, but small basic spells are easy enough for them.
Introducing: Farley Avner
Farley Avner is an assistant/apprentice of Quin Radford. He’s new to this position, and often messes up, luckily he’s not as clumsy as his mentor. His magic type is Air.
Farley is a cheerful guy. People around him easily get caught up in his cheerfulness and find themselves smiling idiotically right along with him. He has a way of looking on the brighter side of things.
Farley loves being in groups. He works best with other people around, and can get lonely pretty easily. He lived in a huge household before moving to the city, so he enjoys noisy environments that remind him of home. He’s an extrovert.
Farley is great with people. He can generally tell when something’s bothering people, and he’s nosy enough to dig for answers. That being said, he doesn’t enjoy gossip. He likes helping others solve problems to satisfy his nosy nature, but generally doesn’t spread the information he learns around.

Introducing: Ali Radford
Ali Radford is a Life/nature magic type user. She owns an apothecary and herb shop. If you need something for a spell plant-wise, she’s the one to go to.
Ali is close to her younger twin brother Quin. The two grew up together and relied on each other in tough times. As such she is protective of her brother. Even when she’s “angry” at him, she’d still watch his back.
Ali is an ambitious person. when she has her eyes set on something she goes for it with everything she has. When she puts her mind to something, she often succeeds.
Ali is a very confident person. She’s self-assured and strong willed. She’ll often clash with people if she has a different opinion. She’s very good at arguing, and often gets a kick out it. She’ll argue about stuff that doesn’t really need to be argued about. She’ll argue with you even if you’re on the same side of the argument.
Ali can be jealous. She’s not good at sharing, so naturally she’s not good at sharing people’s attention either. She feels those close to her should put her first, just like would do for them. Even if an issue somebody else is dealing with is more important than her immediate problem.
Introducing: Quin Radford
Quid Radford is a dark magic type user. He’s a charismatic magic teacher who is generally liked by his students. He loves learning and teaching magic as he’s devoted almost his entire life to it.
Quin is very close with his Twin sister Ali. They grew up taking care of each other and as such they’re relationship is close. Quin tries his best to be close to all his family. He enjoys their company, and would give the world for them.
Quin is a good person. He’s firm on his morals, and often has to keep himself from pushing those morals onto others. He’s a open minded person who does his best to keep on the right track.
Quin is known to be clumsy. Though he’s a fast learner, and an even better teacher, he can often be seen running into things, falling over, or spilling any liquid in arms reach.
The People of Coven Mist
The people of Coven Mist are really divided in two. People with magic, and people without.
Forms of magic can differ depending on where the magic originated. Spells and teachings can be regional while some seem to be universal, and only called different names.
People from all over the world have magic and are witches. The origin of magic is unknown. Why some families have it some don’t is also unknown.
The World of Coven Mist
I’ve been aware of the World Building June blog for a while now (Like since June), and I though it’d be a good place to start on this project as any.
The world of Coven Mist is a modern day world. Magic is real. Witches rule over the magic in Covens. Coven’s usually rule over cities. Every city will have an official coven ruled over by elders and at the top is the elder witch. (I’m not sure they’ll be called the Elder or Elderich.) These are usually the witches with the most magical knowledge and magical abilities.
In this world magic is done through spells using the natural energy produced by a witch’s body.
