How do you think JD gets women? From an objective standpoint he shouldn’t since he sticks his foot in his mouth and he never shuts the fuck up but I’m in season 2 and he’s gotten with like 3 women so far (I think)! Maybe it’s the dork energy he has.
See thats the thing. JD does not get women despite who he is or how he looks. He gets women *because* of those things. He is a great example of one of the major subtypes of the female gaze common stereotypical preferences.
JD is a pathetic, sweet, nonthreatening, empathetic, submissive and dorky twig with insecurity issues. The way he gets women is because bisexual and dominant women love a sad-eyed, whimpering boyfailure. And you add him being a doctor? And being a total pushover? Oh yeah nah. With a great mix of his own fruity mannerisms, desperation and stupidity to boot. The amount of queer women I have known and seen that be on him in a minute if they met him is insane.
Does he have game? No. Absolutely not. His flirting style needs to be brought out back and old yellered. Is he hot? No. Do I and many queers all over the spectrum of identity have a deep attraction to him ourselves or when he is dominated by another person(ie. Cox, Jorden, Elliot, Turk, Carla, etc) fuck yes.
He is a niche category on attractive that his personality truly just refines. Bad childhood + insecurity + bisexuality + dorky + twink + stupid as shit + clingy + neurodivergent
That all being said there were also sometimes where they just tossed women at him because the writers found the women to be hot and wanted an excuse to get them on the show and in sexual contexts. The Scrubs writers had a nasty habit of letting their own sexism color their writing. Many also did not like JD as a character in later seasons and intentionally flanderized his character. Zach Braff included. Or because of pressuring from the network and fans had them change their mind on saying no to JD + Elliot just to go about it all in the worst way possible. Because honestly near the end they just wanted to pull the plug and get all their to-dos finished and it shows. Which is so sad to me as all real chemistry and love between the two as friends in earlier seasons like season 5 just get erased. And they both become just a watered down and usually annoying version of themselves. And all previously natural chemistry suddenly seemed forced or nonexistent.
