Hi! I loooove your art and your bloodymary takes in general. I really got fixated on you "it's not like you killed anybody" line from a while back, I actually wanted to incorporate a moment like that in a fic im currently writing. Would you be cool with that? absolutely no pressure, im just asking for clarity in case i missed something - are we all done with skittle the curious pebble, or is that just on the back burner? i just love the little thing so much 🥰

There's one more part left in the comic to come! I'm cycling through my different AUs and doodles and whatnot to keep myself fresh and avoid getting too overwhelmed. Let's just say I was NOT expecting it to blow up in the way it did at all (holy moly you guys are all so amazing I'm melting!)

This is also probably a good time to announce another week-long hiatus. I have some stuff irl that I gotta get handled so I won't be around my computer to draw much (😭)

ARE YOU TIRED OF DRAWING CHARACTERS WITH POO SMEARED ON THEIR FACE INSTEAD OF FLUFFY SCRUFFY BEARDS? WELL TODAY IS YOUR LUCKY DAY! WELCOME TO: HOW TO BEARD YOUR BLORBOS!

Step one: BALD

Complete your drawing of your blorbo!

Step two: COLOR AND BRUSHES

Be sure to select the darkest part of their hair (ideally should match the shade of the eyebrows) and select a texture brush of your choosing. Any will do, as long as grain is visible! An additional textured blending brush to buff out any hard lines is beneficial, but not necessary for a good beard. WHATEVER YOU DO, DO NOT USE A SMOOTH BLENDING BRUSH! The goal is to maintain grain!

Step three: BEARD LAYOUT

DO use a reference image for this step! Draw out the general shape of where your blorbo's beard naturally grows, making sure to leave space around the chin under the lip where patches of hair are typically absent. Once you lay out the shape, turn the opacity down between 20-30%. I personally aim around 24%. This is a base layer, so don't go too dark!

Step four: SECOND LAYER

With the same brush and color, add additional layers ONLY in the areas that have the most hair (as circled in red) on your reference image. Mess around with the opacity until it gives you the look you want. The darker the color, the thicker the hair in that area will seem. NOTE: blond beards are typically much less noticeable than darker colors, typically because the hair has less contrast against the skin tone.

Step five (optional, depends on your style): HAIRS

Using the same brush as your line art with the opacity lowered to 60%, draw out lines along the same general shape as the beard using the same color you've been using. They should be slightly curved along the jaw like contour lines; this helps prevent the chin from feeling flat, but that's more of a personal preference/stylistic choice of mine. Don't think too hard on this step. The lines should be laid down quick and loose as beards are typically scruffy!

Why does Star Trek Grace wear skirt??

Grace wears a skirt in my Star Trek au based on the skant uniforms from Star Trek TNG! They were a unisex uniform option for the crew, so any gender was able to wear them!

I decided that Grace would wear the skant because he wore Ilyukhina's dress in PHM, so I see his character as being open to all types of clothing :3

I'll have to doodle something where Simon wears a skant at some point too 🤔

The book version of Shapiro and DuBois were freaks and would have absolutely been dtf Grace

Therefore, I will be incorporating that version of them into my Star Trek au, because LEGS (and because these two share the same sentiment as the entire USS Hail Mary crew)

Hey guys! So I just wanted to come on here and give a little more information about my new bloodymary comic series 'This Haven Yellows'! I have big plans for this little passion project of mine. Things for Simon are gonna get worse before they get better, and the story is gonna be heavy angst with a happy ending!

Some important things to keep in mind for the next update is that it will most likely be marked as mature due to body horror and violence. It is about Simon, after all, so there will be a LOT of blood.

Trigger warnings/themes that will be referenced/occur in the next part:

- blood/gore/body horror

- discussion of death/mortality

- religious trauma

- anxiety/depression/failed suicide attempt

- existential dread

The most extreme aspects of the above will be contained within part 2 of This Haven Yellows, and will be written in a way that will allow it to be skipped without affecting the major plot points.

If any of these topics make you uncomfortable or hurt your mental health in any way, please please please put yourself first and skip part 2! I would much rather you avoid a post than damage your mental well-being.
