Did you guys had a weird facination of ants when you were a kid because I did.

Me and a bunch of my friends were hanging around the waiting line to go upstairs (because every lunch, we'd have to wait in line til we can go back to class) and in the waiting spot, there was a mini garden with an ant colony in it and one look at it just sparked something in us.

We just started feeding them our left over lunches and giving them leaves for their building stuff. I remember vividly one time, I asked my mom to blend a bunch of nuts to feed to the ants and I made a little creeper flag for the colony (I was a minecraft kid). One of the ants was also doing a hand stand at one point but i think its head just got crushed, but I didnt know. But of course, someone had to ruin it.

A bunch of kids that got in line first one day just destroyed the colony and probably hid the flag I made somewhere, we were devastated that happened. The colonies good tunnel system was completely ruined on the top by these kids and when the pandemic started, we forgot about them.

After 3 years of not visiting it, We went back to the spot we once went, It was a shell of what it was before. The flag no more. There were no ants in site, no nuts to be found. Just dirt and roots. It was fun while it lasted.

The true AO3 experience is trying to remember a very specific fic you read some time between 2013 and 2019 but you can only remember two of the characters, a vague idea of the plot outside of one specific scene, and you have no clue what the tags could have been.
