Golden Wonderland
My downtown has this park area, smack dab in the middle of town. It’s stunning pretty much any time of year, the trees creating this canopy of beauty. However, walking by one afternoon, I was taken aback at the way the gold leaves turned the entire location into this wonderland.
I was slack jawed and stunned. I quickly made plans with a model I had been meaning to work with and we came in on a bright November morning. I showed up to three city workers with leaf blowers! I was distraught and quickly asked if they wouldn’t mind waiting. They were so kind and said they would be back in 30 mins. Perfect amount of time for a quick shoot!
Victoria showed up shortly after and I was stunned to see she had on the cutest blue outfit with the most beautiful royal blue hair! It was a match made in heaven.
We had a short time to work but it we nabbed some truly beautiful and natural shots. Although I had never worked with Victoria before, I loved her look and we clicked fairly quickly. She took direction beautifully and didn’t hesitate or fear that I would make her look bad.
In the end, it was a beautiful start to the day and the photos are some of my favorites I took in 2017. Don’t be afraid to speak up and ask for things or your opportunities will blow away like leaves.

Even in literature and art, no man who bothers about originality will ever be original: whereas if you simply try to tell the truth (without caring twopence how often it has been told before) you will, nine times out of ten, become original without ever having noticed it. // C. S. Lewis A little reminder to myself; Be genuine in what you love. Others will follow.
Of course I feel too much, Im a universe of exploding stars // S. Anja

photosession: impromptu
Before a dear friend left off to the big world of college, she and I got together to hang out and shoot some photos together, chat about her life as it changed drastically and just enjoy the act of creating. Here are just a few from the end of that session.
(The act of playing with your hair is a movement and pose I use in almost all my shoots. It just feels so natural- I love the emotion it gives this photo. She was apologizing for her frizzy hair. I was thinking how beautiful it was.)

I just need to start.
Sometimes you need to do things that are just for you. Sometimes you just need a collective space to share with the world, I did a thing! Sometimes sharing is part of the doing. Sometimes you come home on a Friday evening and write mind babble about wanting to do things.
I want this page to be a dumping ground of all the creative things I’m doing, I’m planning on doing, in the process of doing. I enjoy sharing the creative process with people. But ultimately I just need to start.
So here’s the introduction. Page one. The sun rises and the Narrator says:
I am a Photographer, an artist, a director and a filmmaker. I make props, costumes and I draw out ideas. I film moments in my life and make up entire worlds to play out on screen as well. I take photos of people and emotions and places. I create. I tell stories.
And this place is to share as I wish.
This won’t get any notes. It’s not supposed to. It’s just supposed to be a starting point. A place I can say, This is where this started. Hello. Here I am and I hope you enjoy what I’m about to share.
