She knew she couldnât stop Merle from drinking, sheâd tired it many times before and it never ended well on her end so she just let him be but what she didnât know was that Merle had taken the key to the cell from Daryl that night.
Sam remembered sitting in the bed that the two of them shared wondering where he was, she just assumed he was with Daryl drinking and blew it off after a few hours. That was until he came home the next morning with blood on his fist and splattered all over his white wife beater.
âOh- What happened!â Sam ran to get a towel to clean him up until she noticed that the blood wasnât coming from him.
âFinally got my fucking hands on that prick after what he did to my brotherâŠIâve been waiting to do that shit for so long.â
Sam sighed and glanced out the window at the sidewalk that led to the cells knowing he was talking about Negan.
After a few hours Merle finally sobered up but couldnât remember where he had left the keys to the cell. He was furious, assuming someone had stolen them but Sam assured him he had probably just misplaced them and she would help him look for them. Little did Merle know Sam was the one who took the keys from him, she had planned on returning them to Daryl that night but curiosity came over her and before she knew it she was standing at the door that led into the small room where Negan was being held.
Sam had also taken a bottle of Merles pain pills that he had hidden in their bathroom and she had planned on giving them to Negan and leavingâŠthat was it and she would never go down there again.
She felt almost responsible for what Merle had done to him, although she knew she wasnât. She also knew if Merle were to ever find out about what she was doing, Negans blood wouldnât be the only blood on his hands⊠itâd be hers too.
Sam took a deep breath as her shaky hand unlocked the door, she wasnât sure if she was afraid of being caught or afraid of the man behind the bars.
It was so dark in the room she could barely see, she could make out the silhouette of a man sitting on the cold concrete floor but that was all.
She was absolutely paralyzed with fear, she couldnât speak or even move an inch as the door shut behind her loudly, immediately giving away that she was there.
She inched closer to the cell cautiously as if he could reach out and grab her any second. Her nervous hand reached up and lit the small lantern that hung on the wall and only then could she see the damage Merle had actually caused and it was much worse than she thought.
Her lip quivered slightly as she stepped back quickly realizing just how close she actually was, she hadnât been this close to him since the night he killed her friends.
He was a monster and she knew that but something in her head was telling her she needed to know more, she wanted to know what made him tick.
As her body shook so did the bottle of pills that were in her hand making it very obvious she was terrified.
The only words she could mutter were
Flashbacks of that night played in her head, she remembered her screaming and begging him to stop as he brought that bat down on Glennâs head. She vomited all over the ground in front of her that night, she was right next to Glenn so the blood ran down all over her hands and splattered along her face.
She remembered Negan laughing in her face as she cried for him to stop.
Suddenly she was pulled back to reality, staring at him like a dear in head lights just like she had been that night.
âDo you remember me?â
