i think the thing that makes rupert and taggie so compelling is that he wants to take care of her???? as another eldest daughter who has to keep all the shit together..... to have a man admit that he did you wrong, actively try and help you with your problems, and then work on himself because he said he doesn't like how you see him is like.....insane.

Speaking here as an overburdened only child (it's "eldest daughter" but worse) who had to hold a lot of things together, and who has been told so many fucking times straight to my face that I've been wronged, by people who still walked away or told me I'd just have to deal with it because they didn't want to have to do anything or change their shitty behavior: *long, tired, wistful sigh*

probably the best advice I've ever got was from my grandpa when I moved from my town and started a university, he told me to leave the house everytime when I start to feel down, just to go to the park, a supermarket, a bookstore, to even drive in a bus or tram, just be around other people because staying at home all the time kills you; and you know he was right
