junjie goes through the steps that are memorized by the muscles in his arms by now. he swirled the cup three times counter clock-wise in his left hand before turning it over the saucer, making the biggest blob if soaked leaves fall onto it. he then turns the cup up and stared at the scattered bits of leaves, frowning a bit as he does so.
as per usual he spots the moon at the highest point of the tea cup, the damn thing always ended up there when it came to eric. we get it, he’ll succeed in life and is one who takes the serious things in life seriously. junjie rolls his eyes a bit as he goes through his thoughts, sparing eric the details.
what suddenly catches his eye is a bird, the shape not thoroughly defined but enough to be interpreted as such, at the bottom of the cup.
junjie lifts his gaze to focus on eric, even squinting a bit before carefully picking his words. “well you’ll have some sort of unexpected situation in the future but you’ll be protected about it, if i remember correctly.” he turns the cup in his hand a bit.
“weird…” he ends up musing out loud. “this can also mean something about a relationship that brings you joy.” with a small shrug he puts down eric’s cup, hopefully the reading had been enough to entertain him, even if just a bit.
eric watches junjie go about his business with half an attention span—the other part dedicated to thoughts on his summer plans. he's sure his parents would want him home for his brother's visit, but there was no fucking way eric was going to miss the trip to go spend time with mr. perfect and his perfect little family. just the thought of his parents going on and on about how proud they were of theo, and not-so-subtly jabbing at eric for being the black sheep of the family—fuck that.
he's glad he's perfected the art of not letting his emotions show on his face when junjie finally starts speaking again, his expression still as blank as before. he waits for his fellow slytherin to finish speaking before letting out a snort, a semblance of amusement rising to meet his ennui.
"a relationship, huh? are you offering?" eric ends up leaning in closer, now resting his head on junjie's shoulder like some animal (affectionate actions? that aren't ironic? in his house?) "is that it?" his voice carries a sense of entitlement. "i want my money back," he jokes, straightening back up in one swift motion, careful not to smash his head into his friend's jaw. "fuck, man. i'm about to go study out of boredom. do you know how pissed hyuck would be to hear that?"
