Studying some Russian while at a mock government camp, it was such a fun week I feel like I learned so much and I feel better after being around a group of incredibly talented and intelligent women!

Another piece of diet culture to unlearn: that eating an "unhealthy" food negates the benefits of other nutritious things you've eaten. Put bacon and ranch on your salad? Congratulations, you still got a lot of fiber, that's great for your gut biome, and the veggies still contain nutrients. Finished up your dinner with a dessert? You still ate the dinner. You don't have to eat "pure" to take in nutrition from your meals.

plus adding cheese and butter and bread to your meals helps you digest more nutrients so you get more out of your meals because you’re happy because they taste good and your body is happy because it gets more nutrients and feels better longer:)

Last 6 days of school, and my teachers are dumping a lot of work on me;-;

I have two papers due for APUSH on Friday, a essay due for APLANG, a math test, and a couple of other odds and ends.

Plus I've been trying to find an alternate to Duolingo since they've lost themselves to corporate greed(who would have guessed) right now I'm trying Italian on Busuu and I like it a lot so far, its nice and doesn't have too many ads which is pretty great.

Right now I'm going to focus on getting my papers done and it'll be easier now that my headphones work again:) I will be starting my APLANG paper tomorrow for sure, and trying to get it done by monday because thats the solid deadline;-;

this is such a profoundly stupid thing to be mad about but. i periodically think about how banksy made one of my single favorite pieces of art of all time, and everything else he's ever done has sucked. man, how did you nail it once

It's this piece, titled The Banality of the Banality of Evil. Because on first glance, you're like. Yeah, okay, it's obvious what it's saying. Even nazis, even evil people can appreciate beauty, too. But then you learn its name, and suddenly the interpretation shifts a bit. The idea that evil is banal has in itself become banal. my first response to seeing a nazi on a bench is "oh it's about the banality of evil" and not "jesus christ there's a nazi on the bench."

and like. i dunno i think that's a really interesting way for a title to recontextualize a piece. it's finding nuance by tearing out the nuance you want to project onto it. it's not the greatest piece of art ever made, but i'd be lying if i said i didn't have a huge soft spot for it

Okay but I have to add to this

what I find really interesting is how the way this is drawn (especially considering who drew it) the art style seems extremely deliberate. This type of nostalgic landscape painting is very reminiscent of nazi art and specifically, Hitler's art.

Nazis were extremely judgmental of "entartete Kunst" (degenerate art). Bansky's usual work very well fall into this category! So for him to go for this style of painting in particular is another choice I find very interesting, because I can see some people react to this painting with some variation of "oh, I didn't know he could actually draw! I thought he is a hack but he is a real artist!" - and that is where they would agree with the Nazis.

I dunno I just find this piece very compelling

oh that is actually fascinating. in fact, to add on- a detail I omitted because I just kinda forgot to mention it. The reason there’s two signatures in the corner is because it was a painting in a thrift shop, Banksy adding the Nazi, and then returning it to the shop.

I think there’s something interesting about recognizing the lineage of this type of art and wanting to mess with it, subvert the intent, and explore the topic and legacy. It’s potent. I really like this piece

We survived Exam season!!!!!!!

Two AP exams, one Portfolio, and one final later

Now i have barely anything left to do this school year, which means I can begin to prep for college:))) This sounds so crazy but im so excited to go to college and move towards to future

All i have left this year is:

Two Final papers for APUSH

One final Physics test

One Final Essay for english and a quiz

Currently my grade are mostly B's but they'll move up to A's once I finish these last couple of things

All i lost during exam season is:

Its okay though because now i can have a break

Today I only have a couple of things to do and I’m hoping I can get them all done

Clean off my desk for the millionth time (i really need to toss some stuff)

My math and physics homework

At least an hour or two of painting

At least an hour of APUSH (especially because I missed two days and our test is soon, I need to know what’s going on)

Some other general household chores

Its not a big deal but I also don’t know if ill have that much time, However I’m not sick anymore so that really helps

You want to call your House rep now and tell them Trump needs to be impeached immediately for defying a Supreme Court order (re: Kilmar Abrego Garcia), which functionally voids our constitution and means no one in America has rights anymore.

I am not exaggerating.

As of now, anybody can be disappeared, no due process, no recourse. Trump is openly disregarding a Supreme Court order and says he’ll send US citizens to El Salvador.

This is not a drill.

Call your House rep and tell them they must impeach. Tell them if they cannot bring themselves to impeach, they must resign. A more open and shut case to impeach is not possible. Trump and his administration are saying openly, in public, that anybody can be kidnapped by ICE, even in error, and disappeared permanently.

Call your senators, too, and tell them to support impeachment (it goes to them once it passes a majority House vote).

We may be cooked again.

I got sick over the weekend and had to miss school today so my whole week’s schedule has to be changed and my ever growing pile of things to be done is growing faster. However I think I have a good grasp on a good chunk of APUSH, my teacher gave us some study guides so I’m going to try and work on one tonight. I am almost done with my current painting at school and my one at home is now halfway done. I’m going to prep my canvas for the last one tonight while my family is out. My grades are at a standstill with only one an and six b’s. Hoping to get them up because I gained a small amount of motivation today because I can’t waste away doing nothing. People don’t get into Harvard that way. In other news I started deity work. Going to prep for an altar tonight because I’m cleaning my room anyway.

So uhm turns out I actually only have 22 days to complete my portfolio, which consists of three paintings…

My plan is to take 18 of those days to try and finish those paintings and then take another two extra days to add extra details and whatnot if I feel like it. Then my last two days will exclusively be for finishing the slideshow and making sure I have good photos of my pieces. Will this kill me? I guess we’ll find out because I have another exam that same day my portfolio is due. If anything this is good practice for college

63 days left in school this year (including weekends) somehow I still have so much to do. Exam season just started and I need to update all of our robotics team’s socials and study. I need to finish my portfolio for Ap Drawing too. I may be a little cooked but I have a plan I swear!!

In April I have one exam next Tuesday so I’m going to study for that tonight and tomorrow. Then I have an APUSH test potentially this week into next week so I’ll study for that after my exam. Then I should be pretty much free the rest of the month to study for my AP exams. That seems reasonable right? The things I need to study most for are the multiple choice sections because it’s so easy for me to get tripped up on them. Otherwise I should be good and then once my exams are over I’m home free!!

Got a new studying app so I can actually focus for once and it’s working pretty well!! I've been doing a lot of painting this week since my portfolio is due soon. Now that my robotics season is over I have some more free time finally
