To our readers:
CRETUS launched as a website one year ago this December, and what an exciting twelve months it has been. We have had the privilege of sitting down with so many inspiring artists, visiting the spaces where they create, and working with gifted writers, photographers, and videographers to tell their stories in words and images that do them justice.
We’ve seen our work in print in this fall’s beautiful Design Issue, which graced the shelves of McNally Jackson and ARTBOOK @ MoMA PS1, as well as several bookstores in Asia. We celebrated at two unforgettable launch parties, along with many of you!
Because of a change in circumstances, it has become clear that CRETUS cannot continue in the two-channel format that we have been building. We feel that our carefully crafted print and digital co-existence is too integral to the CRETUS vision to continue in a digital-only mode. Thus we have made the decision to end our project here.
We will miss serving up these stories and working with such a talented team of freelancers, not to mention the artists who have so generously given us their time. We wish to say a huge thank you to all of you who have cheered us on, contributed your time and energy, helped spread the word, and given us such encouraging feedback on CRETUS all along. We won’t forget it!
CretusMag.com will continue to live on as an archive of the past year’s work, and if you haven’t read the stories we’ve put out in the past month, there are still some great surprises waiting for you.
Stay in touch, and keep creating!
With thanks,
Aniella, Tessa, Shao, Nicky, Qishen, Wendong, and the CRETUS team
