_Hello, World. You will be developing a fully integrated, hypermediated Tumblr site that explores your perspective on what new media is (or could be).
1: Using what we’ve read, talked about, and you’ve researched, define (in your words) “New Media.” ::: 1-3 “Paragraphs”
Things to consider: a) What, according to your definition are the potentials and pitfalls/limits of new media? b) What are the (potential) crucial debate(s) in your definition of new media? c) Who, according to your definition, are the leading companies/personalities?
2: What are the three most important “new media” concepts and why? Describe (in your words) the three and develop a short case study for each ::: 3-6 “Paragraphs”
3: Detail the ways in which these key concepts are most important to your chosen industry/profession (who is doing it well in your industry) and may not be to others ::: 3-6 “Paragraphs”
4: Develop a “viral” campaign (PR-able) that lines up with your 3 key concepts for Ronald McDonald House charities (a la the Ice Bucket Challenge “That, really, was the true accomplishment of the challenge: it took tools—the selfie, the hashtag, the like button—that have typically been used for private amusement or corporate profit and turned them to the public good.”) ::: 2-5 “Paragraphs”
