back and forth the two went. ever since they BOTH laid eyes on him. junior – claiming that if he got a picture with the one and only captain america, he’d be the most POPULAR kid in school. frank kept trying to shrug it off – knowing that right now, that wasn’t captain america. he didn’t have the heart to tell the boy that it was just steve rogers – probably trying to take a well-deserved break, but he does try to PLAY off that. junior, however, was just too young to understand. and after CONSTANT poking, and prodding, and begging – frank finally caves. he doesn’t think he’s ever seen frankie run so fast in his life.

he DOES catch up, however. but by then, junior is already talking up a storm. ❛ – so like, ALL my friends are gonna be jealous, you know? i mean – you’re the captain america! i’ve seen you on tv, fighting all those good for nothin’ aliens! and my dad’s told me plenty– ❜

❛ alright, alright – you wanna talk any faster, bud? ❜ he eventually stands behind junior, who’s resting his hands at the opposite end of the table where steve is. frank looks at junior then he looks at the other man. he can’t believe he’s doing this. he’s listening to the boy, notebook set betwixt them as cobalt orbs remain FIXED on the young man before him.  “ all your friends, huh? looks like we gotta take the picture, then. ”  he’s TIRED, feels as if his unbreakable body is ready to CRUMBLE; and yet he smiles. ivory pearls sheen in the sunlight, his lips spreading like arms as if to say they are WELCOME. the captain america, a title he’s still trying to wrap his head around after all these years but if it brings JOY like this he could stand to be CAPTAIN AMERICA a while longer. 

large form rises as the other man speaks, taking in his visage, the haircut, high and tight, the way the marines like it. whilst the boy was talking A MILE A MINUTE steve did manage to piece together a few things. the man standing before him is a marine, no less of a hero than those he fought ALONGSIDE in his eyes. a hand is offered, a smile as well as he looks to the man behind the boy.  “ Steve Rogers. ”

   rare is it that steve rogers gets a quiet moment, even rarer still are the moments in which he plucks the small leather bound journal he often carries with him from his pocket and adds to it. his features are pensive, gaze flickering upwards occasionally at the building he’s sketching. brows raise as he hears the voice of a child  “ captain america! ”  he shouts and just like that the corners of the soldier’s lips twitch upward, turning to face the boy.
