*Kayne's eyes gazed over Darling, hair flicking as a clawed finger curled over its chin, clearly quite intrigued by the... man? It didn't know and didn't much mind.*

"And you are Darling, yes? Lovely name."

[His crimson pupils studied Kayne. His ear seemed to twitch a bit as he grew lost in his own thoughts. The familiarity of the other was beginning to bother him a bit. His fingers drumming against his hip until finally he snapped back to reality.]

I think your name is lovely as well... Interesting spelling, I'm far more used to Cain, like the story. No relation, I'm assuming?

[Darling chuckled a bit, raising his hand in front of his mouth as he did. Making it obvious just how pale and gauntly he was.]

*It chuckled, summoning a glass of its own with a... rather particular liquid inside. Thick and quite its colour. Where it was from was a different problem, though not too big of one.*

"No, none, but it is quite amusing to consider!" *Kayne had thought about such before, but the name just seemed perfect and it wasn't the same as any of those human religions.* "And yours is a family name? Very unusual!"

*He seemed truly quite fascinated with the other's appearance, considering and almost wanting to look closer. Almost.*

I suppose it is. I picked it in a way. The family needed a face, and Darlington was a mouthful. I suppose I'm glad the name suits me so. I thought of it as a child. I'm glad between all of the groveling I managed to pull it together.

[Darling took a moment, too caught up in his own ramblings to immediately notice Kayne's drink. All he could manage was a curious hum. He tilted his head gently, raising a brow.]

I suppose I know who you are, but I guess I'm more so curious what you are. Though- I also suppose what you are equally factors into the who— So perhaps I know nothing, hm?

*Kayne had to respect the choice- quite a good one and he had the space made to have something good! All worth it in the end.

But of course the uh... being? Kayne wasn't certain on calling him a human- was bound to have his questions. So it smiled, a look that stretched across its face in a way that looked wrong, then summoned seats for them both, where it sat cross legged and tapped a claw on its glass.*

"Depends, really! I can be and have been many many things~ I once ruled Egypt for a long time, I assisted with the creation of the atomic bomb- so on, so forth. But those aren't the answers you want, I suppose?"

*Kayne leaned back, sipping at the substance from its glass,* "A god. Nyarlathotep."

[Darling sat, only taking a brief moment to study the seat before he did. He listened and crossed his legs. His brow raised at the mention of Egypt, then fell into a furrow. Confusion.]

"Atomic bomb...."

[The confusion resolved as if an unseen party had answered his puzzlement. Then before his expression was given much rest, his brow twitched. An attempt to conceal his shock.]

"I...well that would explain it. I thought I sensed. I guess some sort of familiarity."

[Darling didn't know if his organs were still working like they once did, but he swore he could feel a hammering in his chest. He did his best to smile, acting unbothered.]

"I've read of you— and others of course."

[Darling struggled to find something to do with his hands. His nerves were getting the best of him.]

"My family made me study whatever they could get their hands on about Gods."

[Darling attempts to regain his composer, but it is far too late as the pain and rage causes his human form to unravel. A tangled mass of tendrils break through his vivisection wound and hand from his stomach as claws of perhaps fangs extend from the ends of his scar. His body flayed open, clothes torn. Shadow casting over his eyes as teeth and tongue distort. You probably shouldn't have done that... Darling will surely recover of course, it was less about the pain, more so about being caught so off guard, but regardless he staggers after you, crying in upset at the pain. (He also...might be a bit of a drama queen) ]
