I did a mindmap about street art, as that is seen all over the world and is different depending on culture for the message they're trying to convey. I was debating the difference between art, and vandalism, but the truth it is all art and we have no right to choose what it art and what is not
I did a piece of artwork inspired by Jackie Hill, using layers and different materials to produce a final collage type piece of work. I white washed the background in order to make it seem faded and help the top layer stand out, which gave me the idea of how I could do some street art recreations without vandalizing anything. I could white wash a picture of a brick wall and then do a graffiti design over the top
Using paint, I created a background of different complementary colours. Then I cut some cool 'tribal' patterns out of lino in order to print it onto the background using ink, in order to show different cultural forms of art. After that, I decided to stitch into my work to give it some more detail and texture. This was all very fun, but the lino was very difficult to work with
Using ink. I used ink and a dip pen to draw a box and a few other shapes, and then I made my own paintbrushes from things in nature to discover other ways that ink could be used. Then I drew my glasses in a creatively using those paintbrushes and different inks. This whole thing was really enjoyable.
This first mini project was my selfie project that I did during the holidays before starting college, it was all about who I am and what I enjoy, not about taking a selfie. It was supposed to capture who I am as a person through my work.
In art we used construction lines to create a basic outline for objects that were in the room. When using construction lines you cannot use curved lines but you can show where a curved line would be by adding another straight line at a corner. Construction lines are the first building block of a drawing.
