Arthur Pendragon was crowned King of Camelot at only seventeen, just weeks after his father, the famed God King Urther, was struck down in the final battle of his conquest of the Western Continent. Since then, the new King had been painstakingly ruling over his father’s near empire, aided by forces the world had never seen before.
That was seven years ago.
Now, Camelot demands a second ruler. Arthur reaches for relations with the other Continents. He finds one in the North, in the shape of Princess Guinevere of Cornwallis. Here she comes, the olive branch the North sends to Camelot, the offering upon its altar.
The legends are waiting to be written. It is time to move forward, and pen Camelot’s story.
Guinevere is an interactive, text based story, available on both mobile and pc. Based heavily on the Arthurian legends, you play as Guinevere of Cornwallis, the youngest to the throne. Sent to Camelot through marriage to King Arthur, will you lead the kingdom into greatness, ruin, or be forgotten in the history books?

The Love Interests.
THE KING
Arthur Pendragon | 24 | he/him
The ruler of Camelot, having been crowned at seventeen, with the weight of the world on his shoulders. He is your husband, and he greets each day with a winsome smile and sparkle in his eye. He wants badly to be your friend, your confidant, perhaps more, but will you let him? Or will you reject the notion and maintain a distance?
THE KNIGHT
Lancelot du Lac | 28 | he/him
The Champion Knight of Camelot, Arthur’s dearest friend. Famed for his exploits and tales of heroism, he is often the spotlight that nobility and commoners alike are drawn to. The attention, he seems to revel in. He is bold, and dedicated to your safety. After all, you are a ruler of Camelot.
THE WITCH
Morgana le Fay | 32 | she/her
The King’s sister and closest confidant, Morgana is shunned and despised by the majority of court, but her high favor with the King keeps her elevated in a position of power. Like Lancelot, she is frequently the center of attention, but these whispers speak of her sordid past. She has no reservations about showing her hatred for you.
THE FAE
Merlin | 28 | they/he/she
The King’s mage. Nothing is known about them, but there are very few who speak openly about their distrust. She is a member of the King’s inner circle, and thus, to be treated with utmost respect. Fear, however, is a more common motivator for hospitality. At the least, they smile at you when you pass them in the halls. Must count for something, right?
I have never read or watched Death Note and i know the whole ‘book that kills people’ premise but from all the shit i see on here it seems to be two teenaged boys acting out this scene over and over
First, I recommend starting over. There have been some minor changes and text corrections, and there's also a new POV at the end of Chapter 1.
Content:
Part 1/3 of Chapter 2.
Introduction to two secondary romances and a minor character.
Carlos POV
Some grammar fixes and text editions.
What to expect in the future:
The rest of Chapter 2.
Introduction to another secondary romance (the last) and a fling.
A date with Raorne, Aisha or ??
Aisha, ?? POV
More grammar fixes and text editions.
I'm working on figuring out how to let you see all the POVs whenever you want (No promises)
Once chapter 2 is finished, I will start creating a chapter selector.
After I finish writing chapter two completely, I will do a thorough and complete revision. This will then be the final version for Prologue + Chapter 1 and 2 (not counting any corrections that need to be made). So you still have time to send suggestions (I will take my time to review and consider adding them if possible).
I estimate that GWSS could have about 5 or 6 chapters. It's something like this—is a bit of an oversimplification to avoid spoilers: Prologue (The Tale), Chapter One (Your growth and the discovery of the problem), Chapter Two (Discover the remaining secondary romances, getting to know them a little, and finding out how to solve the problem + who the problem is), Chapter Three (In search of the problem to eradicate it, soft lock romance), Chapter Four and maybe Five (Trying to eradicate the problem/lock romance - choose route), and Chapter Five or Six—depending on whether Chapter Four gets too long and I have to create a fifth one (The end of everything + epilogues).
Out at sea there's a certain level of monotony that plagues the minds of even the most hardened of sailors. Day in and day out the horizon stays the same as it was the day before, with your daily tasks as cyclical as the sun rising over the sea. It takes a special kind of person to not to go mad out here where boredom feasts on the mind, and hunger chews on sunburnt flesh.
As an enemy of the law this reality is not one just born of simple greed, but necessity. You must be vigilant as the world does its best to grind you beneath its heal and drown you within its hallowed waters. Be careful of those you wrong, for there are many, and keep track of the nights before your stores run out. All of this suffering and more sustained in the name of one thing:
Freedom.
You are over half a decade into this life when a peculiar sound closes in around you. Is it the savage and desperate rumblings of revenge? The secretive whispers of tender alliances? Or, perhaps, it's the crazed mutterings of new discoveries.
Change is coming. Perform your duties as a first mate to one of the most famed pirate crews of the era and stretch your reach out to keep a crew of over three dozen people - your family - safe.
Because without them you won't survive what comes next.
The Cost of Freedom is a character-driven and story-focused dark adventure novel inspired by works like Dredge and Uncharted. Filled with harrowing decisions, blossoming relationships, and inescapable mystery, this novel is one that is best enjoyed with multiple playthroughs to experience the entire story.
Warnings for suspense with heavy depictions of violence, blood, and gore. Includes explicit language, sexually suggestive scenes, and drug and alcohol use. Contains scenes with instances of sexism, queerphobia and racism. Rated 18+. While inspired by the Golden Age of Piracy, The Cost of Freedom makes no claims over being entirely historically accurate.

THE CREW
The Quartermaster, Darsena (MC)
Darsena's been the right hand of their brother's captaincy since its conception, providing both support and opposition to his decisions. In charge of the provisions, equipment, and morale, Darsena holds the line between a successful venture and a disastrous one.
The Captain, Domenico Ademaro (M)
The captain of La Dulcina before that was even her name, Domenico is a natural-born leader with a strong magnetic personality and even stronger penchant for aggravating those around him. Rumors about his never-ending luck and inability to die follow wherever he goes; some people are even calling him "God's Favored Son".
♥ The Boatswain, Evrim Ergeshov/Ergeshova (M or F)
The quiet bosun in charge of the myriad of ropes holding La Dulcina together. Their silence should not be mistaken for reservation, but instead as a precautionary measure for the fire that burns hot inside. There's not much they don't know about the goings on of the ship, even if they don't always want to involve themselves in whatever shenanigans are occurring.
♥♥ The Navigator, Lovell Barnett (M)
An undeniable genius, Lovell is responsible for getting La Dulcina from one destination to the other, though this work does not come without its hiccups. Professionalism and results are his strong suit, not companionship and niceties. Not that Lovell has ever advertised at possessing the latter.
♥♥ The Helmsman, Celestin Chassur (Genderqueer)
A chance addition when La Dulcina was first marked traitor that has paid back in spades. Celestin is disarming and polite in all the right ways, with a wealth of patience that never seems to end. Their cool head in stressful situations has saved the crew in countless scenarios.
♥ The Surgeon, Seshen (M)
A skilled flirt and an even more skilled medic, Seshen keeps the crew of La Dulcina alive through buckshot, steel, and illness. His roguish demeanor often begets doubt, but it's a confidence backed up by results. People say he's always willing to help, but others only believe that only to be true for the people he likes.
♥ The Cook, Rosario de Torres (F)
As the newest addition to the crew, Rosario was not so foolish to think that a life filled with piracy would be an easy one. It's her determination that has allowed herself to slot into the lives of La Dulcina's crew, even if there is a certain loneliness to being the only stranger in a ship filled with family.
... And more.
