The Amazing Digital Dfic Master Post

Summary: AU wherein the Circus doesn't catastrophically break down after episode 8. Because of this, the TADC cast were able to hold things together, didn't go into a despair spiral and Jax didn't abstract. The cast learns and accepts they are trapped in the Circus and have chosen to conjure the world around them and make the best of it. They also vote to bring Caine back to life, but without his powers and essentially stripped down to being like a human player.

Thus Caine is somewhat awkwardly added to this found family, but we still have all the guilt/trauma to deal with from what happened in the show.

Cool, except! This is a weird kink universe, and thus it is pitched that disciplinary spanking should be implemented to deal with things like Caine's uh, many crimes. Eventually everyone else is also added to the dynamic and thus! Here we are!

Essentially: They are all now in a weird queer platonic BDSM setup, Kinger is dad, everyone else is a part of this freak family, and if that weirds you out you probably shouldn't be here.

General Hierchy:

Kinger- Dad, obviously. Main top. Is actually a switch but only for Queenie. Soft dom.

Pomni - Giving the most mature energy, most stable of the group. Head Top of "the kids". Soft dom but with the sort of firm voice that would get a dog to "drop it". Jax whisperer.

Ragatha - Trying real hard to be oldest sister, dealing with being parentified. One of the ones most into calling Kinger "Papa" because GOD does she need the space to be a kid. Switch.

Zooble - Cool middle sibling. Switch, leans top. Mostly handles Gangle. Abstragedy is canon I'm sorry.

Gangle- Kinda sits in the same place as Zooble. Switch, leans bottom.

Jax- Was the youngest, isn't anymore now that Caine is here. The most brat bottom of all time, fucking doomed in this universe.

Caine - Baby brother. Genuinely prone to acting childish because he's still learning, slips into age regression fairly often to help process his trauma. Bottom, gives Jax's bratting a run for his money when the teeth are in the mood.

Queenie - her abstraction is fixed after Caine's had enough character development to understand humans and thus knows what he needs to fix. Obviously she is mom and is actually the ultimate Dom lol. Very kind and sweet but actually more of a hard ass than Kinger. Absolute freak, will destroy you and you will thank her for it

Fics:

Corrective Input - After being brought back to life, Kinger addresses Caine's tantrums.

Center of Attention - Kinger and Caine bring the difc pitch to the group and Caine is punished for shredding Kinger.

Reckoning - Caine sneaks into his office and nearly destroys the Circus and himself along with it. Kinger is forced to break him down so they can finally address the root issue of Caine's behavior. Instincts- Jax, frustrated by his personal interest in the BDSM dynamic, tears up Gangle's sketchbook. It's time for an extremely difficult conversation with Kinger while Jax figures out exactly what he wants.

Probably gonna be shorter than Reckoning and Instincts- partially because Ragatha just doesn't need as much setup. But behold, I start!

Talk about stealth brat Gangle! Please 🥺

Okay, finally getting around to this lol Apologies for the long wait. There's a lot to say here and I have a little coven of defic folks who have been discussing this together. So I'm going off of their ideas mostly and sharing it with the public. Please behold the soup my little dfic fam has created. So the fun thing about Gangle is she is for sure a stealth brat. We've seen how she acts when she has a little bit of power. And we also know she is easy for her to come across as fragile, which makes it more likely for the tops to pull punches with her. And she's clearly holding a lot of animosity towards Jax specifically. I think Gangle is also looking for a place where she feels safe to mess up and express this side of herself, but she also doesn't know how to process the fact that she's genuinely angry and she has this side of herself, so that's why she's stealthy about it. She wants to know it's safe for her to act out like this, but by God, she's going to be so stealthy about it that it's going to take a while for the tops to realize what she's doing.

She also rationalizes it. Basically, every time she's naughty, she finds a way to rationalize it. This time it was okay, actually, and she's so sad about it, and she's so sorry. She didn't realize it was against the rules. She thought this thing didn't count! In spite of the fact that she needs ti brat, she can't tolerate people actually being upset with her. It's a whole thing. Zooble does notice first and does handle her a bit ("If I find out you're lying, there's a bar of soap with your name on it. Are you sure?") but overall, folks keep letting things slide and only notice when Gangle truly acts out and causes a serious problem and everyone realizes, "Wait a minute, we've been letting Gangle's behavior slide."

The thing that triggers all of this is Jax does a smaller bullying to Gangle and Gangle decides she wants revenge. So she sets up a situation where Jax takes the fall for something she did, and she sets it up in such a way that the only available top (Zooble) doesn't catch on initially that it's Gangle who did the thing and not Jax.

So Zooble outright says that they're disappointed in Jax, and they go to spank her, and Jax just sort of accepts it, because even though she didn't do the thing, she does feel a lot of guilt related to Gangle, so she opts to just take the punishment. And as this goes on, Zooble has a bad feeling in their gut that something has gone very wrong.

It is then that Pomni, Ragatha, and Kane show up because they were off having a little adventure together. And Pomni is, of course, immediately livid because, uh, how dare you touch her bunny? Because Pomni knows Jax well enough to know Jax absolutely did not do this, and she does, in fact, have a temper if it's properly triggered. (Caine feels guilty that he was out having a fun time with his big sisters and this happened while he was away and he's about to have a Whole Thing about everyone but him getting attention, but that's neither here nor there. This ain't about him today.)

And then Kinger comes downstairs and we have:

A Gangle who probably by this point is realizing she has caused An Explosion and is likely managing to like properly act. But who knows how well she is doing at this at this point because Pomni is angry and she's never seen Pomni be this angry jesus christ this is not how she wanted this to go

Jax, clearly distraught, who is being guarded by the most intense, angry guard dog, Pomni, that Kinger has ever seen.

Zooble, who is probably also fighting. By this point, they have probably realized that something is wrong, because I think they trust Pomni's reaction, if nothing else. I don't know how far they are in realizing that something has gone horribly wrong here, and they've actually done something wrong, but once they know, they are also going to feel terrible and be desperate for consequences, if only to process that.

Ragatha, who is probably trying to do the peacekeeper thing and is absolutely only making everything worse.

Caine probably hiding behind Ragatha and looking very scared because this is a lot of noise.

Kinger, who has spent... an amount of time really relying on Pomni as the solid emotional crutch of this family, realizing, oh, something has given and something has given in a very bad way.

And thus, Gangle gets nuked from orbit by all available tops. LOL. Sorry, Gangle, you thought you were above the belt. Too bad for you. Also that promised soap gets used for lying rip

Apologies for the radio silence, folks. Been dealing with a bit of AO3 writers curse in the life department and have been exceedingly busy. Life gets rough when you have a chronic illness, E.

My hope is to get started on the Ragatha fic sometime this weekend, I'll keep ya'll updated. I'll also try to get back to responding to asks! So please feel free to send them! I know you’ve probably answered this before, but do you have any advice for overcoming the mental block that comes with writing discipline fics? I really want to break into the genre but every time I try to write, I get flustered, embarrassed, or my anxiety over someone connecting it to me somehow, ends up making freeze or be too scared to continue.

I actually haven't answered this one before so hooray!

So I'm gonna address the one about people connecting it to you first. the truth is, people are a lot less aware of writing styles then you probably think they are. If anyone actually notices your writing in this fic is similar to something else you've written, they're reading the fic close enough that you get to invoke devil's sacrament lol

another key thing is to make sure to only tag things with relevant tags. I deliberately don't tag my works with tags that tend to involve a lot more innocent things even if they're technically related. usually if you're using the right tags, people aren't likely to click on your fic unless they're actively looking for it.

in terms of getting flustered or embarrassed, unfortunately that's kind of just up to you. the thing that always gets me through it personally is just that I really want this stuff to exist. if I don't write it, it won't exist, and I know for a fact there are people out there with similar interests who would appreciate it if it did exist. bu. t mostly I'm just writing it for myself

there is nothing shameful about writing this sort of thing even if it feels like it. there is nothing wrong with you. These are fictional characters and this is just a different way of exploring them. if people can write all kinds of filthy smut, by god you can write dfic.

Has Caine ever annoyed Jax enough that she just... Tries to spank him? I know that it would be a pretty fucked up situation because they are both in the bottom of the hierarchy, right? But considering that Jax has been shown to be petty...

I can definitely see it happening early on since she's still feeling uncomfortable and messy about her place in the dynamic

This results in her trying to put Caine in his place- which is a mixture of trying to feel in control of something, genuine resentment for Caine and self hatred toward herself.

I'm sure Caine did legit maybe deserve a few warning swats, but absolutely not enough to deserve a full spanking and especially not from Jax

Caine had a very bad time and was legit pretty upset and a little traumatized. This was a "koala cling to Ragatha for the rest of the day" situation.

Jax meanwhile legit felt terrible once she pulled out of it and realized she uh. Y'know legit traumatized a child. This is probably what made her realize "oh this whole thing Caine's in is not an act, he really is like this and no matter how pissed I am even I have standards and this tapdanced right past them"

She didn't resist being dragged off by Pomni straight to Kinger's office for some divine judgement from both of them. This might actually be the first time she gets the belt and finds out "fuck Kinger knows what he's doing oh no"

Lol oh yes. Once the dynamic fully kicks in and she feels safe to open her negative emotion box, she absolutely relishes Jax getting in trouble and even eventually gets a little too smug about everyone else

It's not that she genuinely considers herself better, it's most likely a cover to hide that she's scared if she needed Jax or Caine's level of necessary Top Attention it would mean she'd get in deep enough trouble to deserve, y'know, abuse and then abandonment

Tbh that's a very fun character study idea, that one might go on my endless list

Gangle is a stealth brat for sure. The thing that makes her truly scary is she really has every intent to not get caught lol

Jax is of course basically tied with her but the desperate need she has for this kind of attention means she's not particularly stealthy about it

Caine is easily the most bratty without meaning to. He's not very in tune with his body and emotions, so while he absolutely does want and need the dynamic he struggles to catch his own flags that something is going on.

more on pomni and zooble's domming style and how it compares to kinger plzzz, where do they excel and where do they struggle?

Zooble is significantly less soft than Pomni and Kinger. They give more snarky but cool older sibling energy, and this relates to that. Basically, if they're bratted at, they will snark right back and become very much an unsympathetic wall. Once the bottom properly breaks down, they will absolutely get soft, but it is a journey to get there. I'd say they're actually the least likely to give in to pleading and crying. They're still usually in tune with the sub to the point where if the sub is in genuine distress, they will pause, but it's a lot harder to move them on that front.

That said, I also think they're also a little bit more chill with the rules- once they're more bonded to Caine, they are willing to occasionally just let him off with warnings where other folks wouldn't. They only start doing this once Caine starts genuinely growing as a person, but they're probably one of the first ones to go, fine, it's our little secret.

Jax gets no such lenience. Pomni is a little less hard, I think I've described her voice as kind of being the firm one of an owner telling a dog to drop it. Very much someone who will at least say something sympathetic so the sub knows that they're still loved and cared for, but still firm. I think I've mentioned before, she's also a lot more likely to do warning swats than Kinger is. She will tell a sub to just touch their toes right there and give them 10.

Kinger is the most soft. He really only goes hardball when the situation is pretty dire. That said, for Jax, he will pull up the hardball because that's what Jax needs. That said, the thing with Kinger is hardball usually involves very firmly but gently walking the spankee through whatever gunk is happening in their brain. There's usually a lot more conversation with Kinger over the course of the spanking. He doesn't go quiet for very long, and he's usually using the spanking to emphasize a very long lecture and conversation.

do you have anything that you don't think would fit in one of your full fics, but you really want to talk about? could be anything from headcanons to snippets, floor's wide open

This is a good question. Though a tough one, I have so many different ideas that it's actually hard to focus on them, which I suppose is the inevitable hell of all fic writers. I think a lot about little situations like, you know, Jax locking Caine in his room and the sub drop scene with Caine. Or many months ago, someone pitched the idea of Raghatha and Jax getting into a fight and Raghatha tattles, only to have them both spanked, which I'm very into, but I don't know when/if I'm gonna have time. I've been thinking a lot on Pomni actually as a spankee, just because like, look, really thinking about her going to deal with Abstract did Jax on her own just is such prime material. She's usually so level-headed and chill, but when it comes to her own safety, she is truly incredibly irresponsible. And I just think it's really interesting having a top that is needs to be taken to task for their own shit. Also, maybe I just really want her dad to give her a hug after that whole finale thing. So I don't know. Maybe someday I'll find a way to write it. Anything with the girls I think a lot about, but I'm a little worried if/when I get around to it, people will be less interested since, you know, they aren't the Tumblr sexy men. Which, you know, you should first and foremost be writing for yourself, but it is inherently pretty depressing to spend a lot of time writing a thing and have folks not react to it. Which, you know, maybe that won't happen, but it's the risk of doing the work and having no reward afterwards. I've made a few friends through this blog, and we've been discussing the dfic universe, and somebody pitched the idea of little bracelets with little bead charms to inform the other tops what's going on. So certain colors denote certain privileges being given or taken, or that they're grounded. But also, certain charms means they've been on good behavior, which, you know, is equally cute. This would have to be deep into things, though. God, I really do think about the whole Zooble botching being a top for Caine a lot, just because, like, it's not that they're an incapable Dom, they're VERY good at it, but I think they're the least in tune with what he needs at first. So it's such a fun thought.

IDK, man, I could go on forever. I think about this AU all day, every day.

I've also been thinking a lot recently about the sheer level of like the load Kinger is taking and the amount of neglecting his own self-care and stress he's been experiencing. Queenie's gonna come back, watch that shit for two days, ask Caine what happened, and then Caine will innocently reveal all the shit Kinger has been going through without knowing where this is going to lead because, you know, he just cares about his dad and he's worried.
