The fact that Feyre said she couldn't remember if Rhys touched her or not in ACOMAF must have had alarm bells ringing in Tamlin and Lucien's heads because when Rhys drugged her and made her dance UTM they know (because Lucien talked to her after) THAT SHE DOESN'T REMEMBER ANY OF IT. 🚨🚨🚨

They're probably internally screaming and minds are melting and running around like chickens with their heads cut off because they're probably imagining that he's drugged her with the fae equivalent of whatever fae wine was to her as a human or used his daemati powers to make her not remember and that's a totally valid take and yet Feyre gets mad at them like "rHyS would NEVER!" except he actually has and did and they saw it firsthand.

Calling Elain toxic for almost kissing Azriel while Lucien is upstairs is not you just “admitting Elain has flaws”. Because Elain acting on her feelings for Azriel isn’t a flaw. You don’t have to ship them, but villainizing the female character because she doesn’t want the man you want her to want is weird.

Elain owes Lucien nothing.

Not a conversation. Not her loyalty. Nothing.

He is entitled to nothing from her. Not even a bond rejection.

Elain being complacent and not helping Feyre while they were in the cabin? That’s a character flaw. Two consenting and single adults almost kissing never will be.

How to Write When You Don't Feel Like Yourself

There are going to be days (or weeks, or months) where you sit down to write and feel... disconnected. From your voice, from your characters, from your ideas. Like the person who used to write your stories just packed up and left.

They didn't. They're just tired. Here's how to keep writing anyway:

Lower the bar (Until it's on the floor) You are not here to write something brilliant. You are here to write something. A paragraph. A sentence. A single line of dialogue. Movement matters way more than quality.

Write around the story Don't force it. If you can't write the scene, try: ⋆ A character ramble / journal entry ⋆ A conversation that won't be included in the final draft ⋆ A list of things the character would never admit out loud ⋆ A messy summary of what should happen Engage with the story from a different angle.

Borrow a voice until yours comes back No, not with AI. Read something that feels close to what you want to write, or watch a scene that captures the tone, then write immediately after. Not to copy, to reignite your instincts.

Write the emotion, not the plot. What is your character feeling in this moment? What are they afraid of? What do they want but won't say? What's being kept from them? The emotion leads, the plot catches up later.

Stop trying to "feel like a writer" first. You don't write when you feel like a writer. You feel like a writer because you write.

You are still a writer, even on the days it feels distant. Especially then.

ACOFAS is an absolute shit book but I do have thoughts again:

Earlier in the book Rhysand tells Feyre that Lucien still hopes to reunite with Tamlin one day.

So they are both aware that this relationship matters to Lucien, that it's important to him, that he cares about Tamlin still. That he has hope that the two of them can fix their friendship.

And then Rhysand goes and ruins that and then this happens.

Feyre herself is aware that she is to blame for the state of their relationship. She's so close to getting it. She sees how this hurts Lucien, that he's upset.

And YET she doesn't feel any remorse?? For her so-called friend who is clearly hurt by this?? Lucien straight up tells her that she has ruined any chance he has of going back to the Spring Court, that he has nowhere else to go. Clearly both Lucien and Tamlin were willing to patch up their relationship and to make it work!

And not once does Feyre think "hey maybe destroying this friendship that has existed for far longer than I've even been alive and the depths of which I couldn't begin to understand maybe that was a dick move". She doesn't even have the decency to apologize to Lucien for it even when faced directly with the consequences of her (and Rhysand's) actions!

And yet and yET despite it all Lucien doesn't say a bad word about Tamlin. He still defends him, still tells Feysand off for bullying Tamlin when he's already at his lowest. Because he still cares about him.

Shoutout to Lucien for once again being the only emotionally intelligent person. Whereas Feyre with her smooth brain immediately starts demonising Tamlin for kicking out Lucien because he's just such an evil dude Lucien himself immediately understands that Tamlin didn't kick him out because he hates him but that Rhysand and his meddling is to blame. That Rhysand somehow caused this. Because Lucien still understands Tamlin and is on his side, despite everything.

Does anyone think that the reason Azriel never gave Nesta grief like the rest of the IC did is because while they were judging Nesta for being mean to Feyre, Azriel was remembering that when he first met Cassian and Rhys they just beat the shit out of him.

As much as I like to rag on the IC for locking Nesta up, the fact that in an original draft they were going to send Nesta to a fucking war camp, after she has PTSD from being in a war, and said war camp is filled with raging misogynists, is just mind boggling. Thank fuck SJM changed that plot thread because holy shit that would make Rhys and Feyre the scum of the earth.
