Fact: It’s not true that “everyone is a little bi.” There are lots of lesbian and gay people out there who have fought hard to understand their identity, and they know for a fact they’re not bi. 

Plus, society certainly doesn’t treat bisexual people like we are the norm. The fact that we are treated differently matters, and saying that “everyone is a little bi” delegitimizes our experiences of oppression, our journeys to self-discovery, and our sense of community and identity.

I forget where it was but I saw jeans for sale and like they were labeled as “girlfriend cut” instead of ‘boyfriend’ and like the irony to me is that the term “boyfriend style jeans” was originally done as this weird way to heterosexualize the dangerous idea of women wearing slightly loose pants so you knew you weren’t a dyke but like apparently the use of the term “boyfriend” was like too much of a gender confusion crisis for the buyer so they had to change it *again* as opposed to just calling it “loose fitting” to begin w and now it has fully no-homo’d itself into a corner and it just sounds like yr stealing yr jeans from some butch girl yr dating

Drag me if you want but I feel like a major problem with liberal/Western gender ideology is that it’s so focused on aesthetics. Like “Look at me, I’m defying gender norms by wearing a dress/suit/makeup/whatever.” Like okay but what about defying gender norms via the breakdown of behaviour? What about acknowledging things like male entitlement, aggression, perceived weakness and submissiveness, the expectation of women to perform emotional labour etc. If we don’t actively work to break down oppressive and dangerous gender stereotypes, what is the point? Defying gender norms and identities can’t just be limited to clothing, hair, and makeup

As music fans, can we talk about the uncomfortable but very real truth that many of the “rock gods” (steven tyler, david bowie, jimmy page, iggy pop, ect) have actively pursued relationships with young girls. That under the guise of free love, exchange of thought, and creativity these powerful men willingly engaged in a culture of drug use, violence against women, and normalizing predatory behavior towards girls. Saying that this was just “groupie culture” is an goddamn excuse. It’ll never be healthy for a girl who’s just reached puberty to have her first introduction into sex by powerful adults pumping her with drugs. No matter how mature these girls thought they were or how much they wanted to have sex, they were detail naive and vulnerable. These men preyed on them.
